i have a 95 and earlier in the year i replaced the grid relays. it has been starting fine when it is 20degreese or so but now that its in the negatives it gets harder. this morning it is down for good. it rolled over until the batteries died. now there is a screeching noise and rolls over slow then faster but still sqealing like a pig. i charged tha batteries fully and it stiil wont go. i have it pluged in but dont know if the block heater even works what do u think it could be.

Pump timing may have slipped. To heat it up, use a hair dryer into the inlet of the turbo. Use a heat gun if you have one (way hotter). Pull the intake tube from the airbox and blow directly in. If you have a helper, after you do that for a few minutes, try cranking while heating.

If there was a small air leak in the fuel system, it could cause the starting problems. I had it happen to me on a big rig (14 liter Cummins) exactly the way you are describing and it turned out to be rotted fuel lines letting air seep in. However, I didn't experience the screeching. Could that be a belt going bad?

To start it try a very small shot of Ether,in the air filter, be very careful don't over do the ether. It may also be something seizing that is turned by the belt. Just take the belt of, to see if the squeeling stops.

If your starter is toasted it will squeel sometimes and in cold weather if it is not turning fast enough you won't get enough combustion to start.

well i got it home and running after my uncle pulled me 10 miles and bumped started it. after that it ran fine and started fine no sqeauling. i think the starter is going bad for sure. as far as the startong issue o will try to use a heat gun and see what happens thank u all.
