Well. I finally let the dealer take my truck at 69,000 miles and replace the leaking oil pan gasket and do the TSB to fix the leak. I can tell by the scratches that they took it out from the back. I assume they lifted the front of the engine to do this. Seems to have fixed the leak for now. Only done about 1. 000 miles ago. Problem is they created a new noise I can not locate and correct. It sounds like a mild slapping noise in the vicinity of the turbo. I have checked every single thing I can put my hands on. Everything is tight and secure. The first time I really knew I heard something I thought a dog ran to the curb and barked at me. Not a sound easy to explain. Almost sounds like the pass side inner plastic fender well is loose and mildly slapping. But it isn't. It can barely be heard and does not follow any patterns. Sometimes I hear it at WOT, sometimes setting at a stop sign idling. I can't figure it out. Any suggestions welcomed.
Also wish to mention that they scarred my drive shaft seal and now it is leaking. More work to do now. I also had them quote on repairing my vacuum pump leak. They wanted $1300 to replace or $260 to rebuild. I told them I would do it myslef.
Whew! This thing is starting to fall apart too soon. At this rate, the oil leaks will have eaten my whole asphalt drive by the time I hit 400,000 miles, which was my justification to my wife to buy this truck.
Any help you all can offer would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
David
