Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Need help with an ill 2001

OK here is what I know so far and what has been checked. The truck was running poorly then would not idle. I checked the VP-44 with a Cummins tool that plugs in directly to the pump to check it's function and it works OK. Here is the weird part when I first plugged in the scanner I could read the PCM and Ecm but now I have no communication with them or the ABS controller. I did find a TSB on this and checked the wiring in that location and it looks OK. I sure could use some help the owner of this truck is still trying to get over a trans nightmare now this.

Blair, Have you checked the Bus? Has it been shorted?

I would start with cleaning the grounds and battery cables, then the connectors to the computers.
