I have a 2007. I have been getting intermittent codes of P2121. It’s the accelerator pedal position sensor. On m truck it is located above and attached to the accelerator pedal. Not the bell crank style like on the older trucks. I replaced it thinking that was the problem. I also cleaned the plug at that location. After about a week, the problem returned with the same code. On one occasion, it gave me several codes all related to the APPS. One said something about low voltage.

I have no idea what else could be causing this. Every once in a while it will reset, but then it returns. When it fails, I loose throttle control for a short while. It’s not good when I am towing the 5th wheel.

Any ideas before I take it to the dealership and have to pay out the…. .

Thanks

Possible that the new APPS failed. I had one fail on my 03 (bell-crank type). The replacement failed a couple of weeks later. Dodge parts have a 12 mo/12k mile warranty. They replaced the part with no charge and all was good.

Thaks

I guess it's possible, but I doubt that is the problem. Im wondering if it is computer controlled or if there is a connection on the other end that is bad.

It still sounds like a bad sensor. If all of the connections look good you may have got a defective one. Sorry I can't be more help.

I think I'd be checking the connections carefully before pronouncing the new APPS bad. A corroded connection will produce these symptoms.

Load test the wiring from the APPS to the ECM with a large bulb. I use a halogen head lamp bulb. I hardly ever ohm test anything any more. This is the set up I use. Also NEVER probe inside the terminal, always touch the edge or the outside to avoid spreading the terminal or causing more trouble than you started with.

You might wanna check the wiring harness itself. The one with the 5v wire in it. I had the same exact prob. on my 07 and replaced the pedal assembly. I even had Dodge warranty it thinking maybe I had just got a bad APPS. After my truck was out of commission for 3 weeks (not counting the other two I spent with the transmission dropped waiting for a new flexplate and conv. ), I decided I would check the voltage. Luckily the first thing I noticed was a big bundle of wires sitting over the dipstick tube since that had rubbed maybe a 1/4 inch of the paint off of it. I then checked the wires and there was a tiny bare spot on one of them. A little bit of electrical tape and now the problem is solved and I'm happy again. I donno if this could be the same problem that you're having but I thought it might be worth checking out...
