need help with brite box

hi, guys need some help with my brite box.



olga came with a brite box from the previous owner. while changing batteries in the dark i must have destroyed the ground.



i ordered a bunch of stuff from geno's recently and asked them to include directions for a brite box. they did (big thumbs up), but in the instructions they talk about a black wire. i've got a red wire coming out of mine. are they the same thing? is it a ground wire i attach to the ground side of my battery?



any help is appreciated.



p. s. it is a 98 24v sport.

I just noticed this thread... as I'm at work right now and have no way to verify this at this time. . and since nobody else responded, I will attempt to answer your question from memory. First of all, I have the "special" Brite-Box... this is used specifically for the '99+ Sport headlight conversion in '94 through '98. 5 Rams (only). [This particular Brite-Box can be purchased through Geno's Garage although it is not listed in their catalog... however, do know this, it is expensive. . but worth every penny IMO]



If memory serves, there are two wires coming from the Brite-Box (in addition to the headlight wiring/connectors), a red, fused wire that attaches directly to the battery and a black wire that should be attached to a known, good ground.

thanks, john. i'll check tonight. my bro's got olga as he is moving. i'll check closer for a black wire. the red wire had a connector with a circle at the end (this is what is broken and blowin in the wind). if you can check yours please let me know where that fused connector goes or should go.

My brite box got installed underneath the passenger side batterry tray, out of site. I do know that the fused connector hooks up to the battery, and I unwrapped my wiring harness a bit so I could get the thing hooked up down there.

That's all I can remember right now, but electrically speaking, if a DC device has a hot wire going to it, it must have a ground, or it won't work. There probably was a little pig tail coming off for the ground, probably just long enough to go under one of the mounting screws. Standard color codes for DC vehicular power cables are red = hot, black = ground.

The BriteBox for my 94 Ram only had one wire to attach to the B+. Ground on mine runs through the OEM headlight socket, which is fine because it is only carries the current for the logic circuit and relay coil. Dave

brite-box

The bright box that was sent for me has only a black wire,besides the main light plug. This black wire hooks to ground on 99 non sport.

I believe you are correct Dave. After a subsequent look after work yesterday I discovered my "special" Brite-Box only has the one, short, fused power wire (exclusive of the four Sport headlight plug connections).

ok, so now i am really confused and still haven't looked at the stupid thing and i just changed fuel and air filter (just before i towed my '65 mustang GT fastback to LA to sell
