I have searched through the posts as best I can, and can not really find a complete list of mods to add to my truck. My 02 non H. O. finally rolled 100K and I can't wait to get my hands on my new chip and start smokin the hippies (and powerstrokes) out. I cut out the muffler and resonator a while ago, installed a K&N FIPK2, and I have my edge juice with the attitude monitor on order. Now I would like to know which injectors (or just nozzles) to switch to, do I need to upgrade my turbo, and do I need to upgrade my stock AT in order to handle the extra power. As well, do I need to go to a larger exhaust pipe system for this?? I had my lift pump and inj pump replaced at 92K, do I need to upgrade those?? Also, is the banks high ram intake worth the $400 it costs? I thank ya'll for your help, and look forward to the build.

transmission will need upgraded, the juice alone can put a hurt on it. You have the small turbo, you could probably get away with the charger you have if you watch your gages. 4" exhaust will help. Turbo wouldn't hurt if you put in bigger injectors.

The injector choice will be based on desires from your truck and ultimate HP goal. How dod you use your truck, do you tow, how much HP are you looking for, do you want to drag race or sled pull?

Now as to your question of is the Banks high ram worth $400..... Not in my opinion, you spend a lot of $$ for something that either makes no HP or causes a slight loss.

Do a bit of reading around this site and you will find the answer to the Banks High Ram Intake, like Jetpilot said, nope! Seriously, spend some time reading the archives and you will figure out alot about performance. Most people don't like K&N either, I used one in my 93 for 180,000 miles and never had an issue but I don't have one on my 01.

You need to decide how much power you want, then you need to upgrade the driveline. You have and AT so you need some serious money to lay down 500 hp consistantly, also you have a Dana 70, if you abuse it, it is going to break. $4-5000 for the transmission, $600-1000 for a Dana 80, then we can add some power.

Trans is first, with shafts "input and output"

and flexplate

you have the Edge box

gages

Turbo

injectors

fuel system up-grade

head O-ringed and studs

4" exhaust

a smarty or a BD-Rad box to rid of the De-fueling in 1st ans 2nd gear

up-graded boost boots

IMO... get rid of your K&N

once you start it's just never ends :-laf

you can have a lot of fun with a good trans and a box!!!

the trans is money well spent..... don't cheap out... . do it right the first time!!

We do use the truck to tow our horses around, and I would like for it to be able to do that, as well as get into sled pulling. Thanks for your help!

I think the newer K&N are better filter media than the older ones. The older ones didn't filter very well. Where are you located?

I thought the diesel rams (2500) with the Dana 70's used a hybrid that is Dana 70 axle shafts and tubes but used a Dana 80 center section. I read this somewhere but can't remember where. The gasser rams (2500) used the regular Dana 70.

If I were you the first thing I would decide would be how much Hp I wanted to end up. From there work backwards.

You have to lay the foundation then build the house. So alot of $ has to be spent just getting to the point where you can make big Hp. By that I mean exhaust pipes clutches transmissions head modifications etc etc etc... .

Find a good vender that knows their stuff and stick with them. It will save you money in the end.

If it were me I would shoot for 600 Hp. Seems like a nice fun number. :)

what is the matter with the K&N?? DO I need to go back to my stock box, or is there a better option out there.

the problem with a K&N is the oil gets sucked in and covers the turbo and everything else, and the dirt gets sucked in and sticks to the oil.

I am in Laramie, WY... any good vendors nearby??

I am not sure about Wyoming, but most of these guys have toll free numbers. I deal mostly with Source Automotive and I recommend them highly. They are a whole state away from me. Still most of the things I order arrive the next day. Maybe a bit far from you if you want to have any installation done by them in their shop.

You should also check around the TDR site some, you will see other venders popping there heads up now and then. Pay attention and consider giving them a call also. Most them have a very good report card here on TDR.

Good Luck, Have Fun;

Jim
