How did you get these codes, I have no idea what they are. You need something like P0216 or something like that. Then I could help.

LP, my guess...

Sounds like your friend just joined the dead LP club. TurboTim is right, where are you getting those strange numbers?

Been away for the day. My Bud has the Cummins Road Relay 4 that displays faults and a brief description. Thats where that info came from.

I too have a road relay. Do yourself a favor and get the codes from the dash also. These will marry up with the ones in the factory manual and you will be able to go right to the problem. I have the factory manual, but it is at home and I am at work, otherwise I would be able to tell you in about 5 minutes what everything means. I will check this thread after work tonight and see if you have made any progress. Good luck. ;) One thing I forgot, I need to know what mods he has on the truck. My truck is also a 2001 HO so this should be easy for me to figure out and help you. ;)

Here are the dash codes and mods;

P0500

P1693

P0216

P0230

I have a Bully Dog Torque Dog 2 (now removed), 4" Jannety Exhaust, and AFE Air Filter. No problems since removing the Torque Dog about 200 miles ago.

Thanks for your help

P0216 is the infamous VP-44 failure code P0230 I am not sure about off the top of my head and the P0500 is a loss of speed signal which most likely can be ignored and P1693 just ells you that you have codes... . Duhhh. If it doesn't act up without the torque dog I would assume either a bad module or a bad connection but I am leaning toward injection pump time otherwise. Keep us informed and I'll look for the 230 code

P0230 - Transfer pump circuit out of range. Sounds like the lift pump isn't working right. No fuel pressure gauge? Check lift pump pressure, if you need a temporary gauge, I've got one if you want to drive down, I've even got a brand new lift pump if you run into trouble trying to get one. A bad lift pump supposedly can lead to the P0216 code without actually being a VP-44 problem so I would start with the lift pump.

WM, I just remebered, I am off tomorrow if you guys need some help with that truck, I've even got a 2001 service manual.

In the 2001 service manual you will be looking in page 25 - 5. That where everything starts for the codes. P0500 = No vehicle speed sensor signal. P1693 = DTC detected in companion module. P0216 = Fuel injections pump timing failure and the P0230 code = Transfere pump lift pump circuit out of range.

If in removing the box everything has stopped, it will take 40 succesfull start up and shutdown of the engine before these codes will be erased from the ECM's memory. So in about a week you should be able to flip the key 3 times and no codes show up.

You might want to look at the ground circuit for the fueling box and ohm out all of its wiring for a possible short.

:(

Thanks for all the help. I will pass this to my Bud. Turbo Tim;

the sick truck is not in this area, all I can do to help is via email. Thanks for the offer.
