Hey guys,

I am putting a Jacobs exhaust brake on my father-in-laws 2000 ram. I ordered it with the plunger switch (on the gear shift) from cummins. The stock rocker switch had a green / yellow / red / white wire. The plunger switch has a green / yellow / red / black wires.

When I hook the rocker switch up the brake works fine. When I hook up the plunger switch I get nothing.

Can somebody please tell me what the heck the 4 wires on the plunger switch are suppose to go to. . The wiring must be different.

Thanks guys!

update

Okay,

On the plunger switch, if I give the red wire 12v and use the black as the ground, the light lights up when I pull the plunger out. However the yellow wire does not send any voltage out. On the rocker switch they sent with the unit, the yellow gets 12v out when you flip it on.

Starting to think he may not have this plunger in by tomorrow.

Klenger where are you????????

Klenger,

I did that wiring (as shown) with the pin in the #20 spot. The brake works great with the rocker switch they sent with it. I ordered the brake with the plunger switch (cummins part) from the dealer that you suggested.

All was good until I got to the wiring for the switch. It didn't have the same color codes. I thought you might know about the wiring for the cummins switch.

I have seen people on here saying that they have used all sorts of switches for the brake. I guess by looking at it, all you need is a switch that the yellow wire is 12v triggered when you want the brake on.
