Skyjacker says that a 37" tire will fit with their 5" kit. It is actually a 4. 5" lift for the diesel trucks because of the extra weight. I would think that height wise, you would be o. k. with the 6" kit and a 38" tire. You might run into trouble with the width though. If you get a wheel with a normal offset, you'll end up with around 4. 5" backspacing and that makes the wheel and tire stick out quite a bit. with a tire that is 15. 5" wide, you probably will be hitting fenders at some point when you turn the wheel.

I'm going to buy the tire and wheel I want, get it home, then determine what size lift I need.

I'm going to have to say no, it won't fit. It might physically fit, but much suspension movement at all will send the tires into the fenders. This will be dependant on the "actual" lift increase, as a lot of lift kits measure 1/2" to 1 1/2" lower than their advertised height. I will personally be running a kelderman air ride(adjustable) to clear my 37's or 38's. Nothing looks more out of place than a truck with to much tire in the wheelwell, IMHO.

You will incur problems. I wouldn't even run a 37" with the 6" unless it was narrow. I only plan on 35's with my 6", but that's just me. Others will run 37's and be happy. 38" and wide however is too much IMO.
