I have a 98 quad cap with the driver's side seat back not locking into position. If I lean back into the seat it just lays back. I was looking at it and found two little springs that had broke. Has anyone had this problem and how to fix it? I believe I found where the springs go, but it looks like it is up inside the metal seat frame.

Thanks in advance

Well, I fixed it. One dealer told me due to libility reasons the entire seat back would need to be replaced. The price of a seat back is $1750 plus the cost to get matching leather since mine are custom made.

Dealer number two said the part I need is one piece and the springs could not be replaced by themselves. I would have to buy the small alum. piece for $279. A lot better than $1750, but I only need two springs.

I went to NAPA and bought a spring for $2. 99 and in less than 30 minutes I figured out what I needed to do and fixed it. The springs layed up against a jagged edge of a alum. block and that is what cut the first springs. I filed the edge smooth and all is well again. Just think, someone could be charged $1750 plus labor to repair something as simple as this was.
