I now have 5 Goodyear GSA 265 R75 16 that are a "D" rated tire on 5 matching aluminum wheels that have been on the truck since Sept 99. At first they had been good tires but after 6 months of usage I have had 1 of the GSAs go out of round, Since then I have had 2 more Goodyear GSA go out of round. The tires won't stay balanced for more than a week at a time an I am getting pissed. On top of that my 5 NEW wheels are all chewed up from changing weights all the time and the road salt is making it worse. I would have to guess that the tires have been rebalanced over 20 times since new. ALSO the same Goodyear dealer has done TWO alignments on the truck as well. Tom’s Tire wants to replace the tires with either Goodyear Wrangler RTS 285-R75-16 which are “D” rated but have a 3000 lb rating. OR a set of Cooper Discovery 265-R75-16 which are “E” rated. The bad news is TOM’s TIRE wants to charge me another $500, and forget what they did to my $1000 set of wheels that they sold me. I DID by road hazard, but I think the tires were WAY to light for a 7000 lb truck that pulls a 29 foot fiver or junk to begin with

So anyone with either tires please let me know what you think of them. I use my truck for work, traveling mostly highway, but I do go off road and use the truck to plow snow so traction is a very big deal.

From what I have learned through the TDR Goodyear tires don't seem to hold up too well, and from what I have learned from friends and family Cooper tire are junk.

If you are shooting for a 265/75 Michelin tire get my vote hands down. I have a set of the LTX MS tires that I bought used and after 15,000 miles these things look like the day I put them on. Although they don't look agressive, they were excellent in the snow.

If you are shopping for 285/75's take a look at the Dunlop Radial Rover RV's. These will be my next set of tires but in a 255/85 size.

I agree with the Michelin choice, I have had two sets and both went over 100,000. The present set is at 103,000 and there's still some tread left before the wear bars will start showing! :)
