Need help in Millville NJ.

Drove from Charleston SC to Millville NJ. No problems. Truck sat for 2 days. Start truck, it ran for 5-10 seconds and shutoff. Try to restart. Cranks but will not start. Fuel pressure about 10lbs. fuel into and out of fuel filter. Cracked #1 injector line about 1/2 a turn, cranked engine. No fuel comes out.

VP44 Toast? Anyone near here that can help? Please call me. 843-696-4702

Thanks, Ken R

Did you crack a line to check if the fuel transfer/lift pump is getting fuel to the VP-44 injection pump?

Is your fuel filter clean? Recently replaced? Water drain valve on fuel filter cannister drained?

No did not check line to VP44. will do that tomorrow. Fuel filter? Due for replacement. Water drain? Not checked. will do that tomorrow too.

Thanks for the tips.

Since you said fuel was going into and out of fuel filter I would suspect the VP44.

Is the "check engine" light on? Can you get codes off of ECM/PCM?

If there is air in the system you mite have to crack more than one injector line.

edit

After driving to NJ, I had to move the truck the following morning, and then the same afternoon. Both times it started, no problem. Yesterday when it died, I don't remember if I let the lift pump cycle before starting the engine.

After it died, the check enging light was on when cranking. I have no code reader with me. I will crack 1 or 2 more lines when I get there today. However, there should not be any air in the system when it died unless the lift pump failed, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I will check anyway.

I will bring a fuel filter with me today and swap it out just in case. I am not sure if I will have internet access after 10:30am today, as I will be in the parking lot of NJ motorsports park.

Thanks again,

Ken R

Running!

After fuel filter pressure gauge is mechanical. It was leaking into the face of the gauge. This was letting air into the line when not running. Replaced gauge, cranked it for 15 seconds and it started! Hooray!!!!!

Thanks for all your help!
