Battery Question

I decided to take my 07 5. 9 g56 3500 2wd drw to the local diesel shop to get my valve lash adjusted. They called and said number 3 and 4 injectors showed 88 to 92 percent on the computer. So I told them to go ahead and install them to avoid any problems later. They did and when it was finished, it has code 606 and the check engine light is on. It says internal microprosessor malfunction. I had no problems when I took it in, just doing the valves as maintenance. Anyone have any ideas? I took it in for lash adjustment and have to have 2 injectors and a computer. Come on now, I'm not really happy here. Could the ecm be reflashed or do I have to have another one??Thanks in advance for any help. Oo. #@$%!#@$%!

Take it to somebody... (Dodge dealership) and verify that the engine serial # in the ECM matches the valve cover data plate.

I would expect it to the serial numbers to match since I have 180,000 mile with it and no problem until the shop worked on it.

WOW, I would like to know how they could measure that precisely without removing the injectors,From what I understand it takes one helluva costly machine to measure that accurately. If they were taking balance rates nothing wrong with those #s. Not tearing down someone's work, just don't like taking advantage of someone not knowing. As far as the ECM it sound like a power surge destroyed the component. that's about the only way they get fried or internal malfunction.

We have proved it in Chrysler school, NEVER use the power balance in the scan tool for the final word on diagnosing a bad (suspect) injector. The test is not reliable and usually will result in replacing the wrong or too many injectors. Unfortunately too many technicians use it as a short cut to doing the actual return tests to identify a bad injector.

As for the ECM I would have them at least hook up the two old injectors, disconnect the battery for at least one hour, and try again. Sounds like they did something wrong or one of the new injectors took out the ECM. In any case I would not be wanting to pay for the controller. It wasn't broken when you took it in, you shouldn't have to pay for it now.

X2, I get flamed ,being a business owner if I would have made this statement. Also we will NOT do parcel replacements, all 6 or none, also on Remans it your $$$ if they fail.

Got an ECM from a salvage yard. They flashed it and now the truck runs fine. Just don't know how the ECM got fried. Probably will never know. I bought the part and the shop flashed and installed it no charge. #@$%! WOW, Merry Christmas!! !Thanks for the help guys.

When I had my injectors removed/checked on my 03 at the company shop, the mechanic disconnected the ECM before doing the work. I thought he was probably over cautious when he did this, but now I'm thinking he knew what he was doing.

I was just wondering if the shop you took it to removed your ECM and swapped it with one from another truck... . possibly for testing another trucks problems... ... . and forgot to put it back on YOUR truck. Strange things happen sometimes.
