What's the best way to enable high idle without going to the dealership? I never have a good time at the dealership, and it always takes a ridiculous amount of time. Besides which I'll probably have to spend an hour explaining to them that there is indeed a high idle feature and that they do have the capability of enabling it. I just don't need that kind of frustration in my life.

find someone with a Smarty in the area where you live. All they have to do is install the smarty into your ecm and when they return it to stock you will have the updated file that will enable the high idle feature

I've thought about a rheostat in the APPS (or whatever they call the go pedal sensor) circuit. Sort of like a volume knob on the dash that you could adjust idle speed with.

WOW, Pete that sounds like a great idea. Let us know how it works out as I'd be in for that mod.

Craig Johnson at Big Power Diesel loaned me a Smarty for 15 minutes today so I loaded SW5 and then loaded Stock and my high idle was enabled just like lmills said it would be! Thanks!

There was a bit of a glitch in that my stereo stopped working right after the update. It seemed like it wasn't getting power. I disconnected the battery cables to reset everything and it started working again. A little scary, but no harm done.

What pin do you ground to make it work on a manual truck? Anyone got any directions? Is there any consequences to ground this wire?
