I was wanting to begin to look around for some turbos to make a set of twins up for my truck and was wondering what turbos some of you were using for these purposes and where you all got them from. Just wondering what some of you all were using as your primary and what some of you were using as the other turbos. Any information would be appreciated.

where do I get an Ht3b or a turbo like that at. I've never heard of one yet and was wondering what it came off of or where to look for one of these at.

I hear it comes from 350 and 400 Cummins motors, Piers has the modified ones! I got one from him and couldn't be more satisfied with it, a few more pennies on the hole project vise an off the shelf one.

It's still on paper

The system I want to put on my truck uses a PDR HX40 with a 18cm housing as the small turbo. The big turbo would be a Turbonetics "Q" trim T-88 with the 3. 63/3. 89" Turbine and either a . 96 or 1. 15 A/R housing.

but If I really wanter more RPM. . (can you say P7100). . I would use the 3. 85/4. 23" turbine and either a 1. 15 or 1. 32 A/R housing

I'm going through the same thing, get with me and we can combine ideas. I have all the abilites and tools to fab the pipes I just need to find the proper second turbo. I think the PDR 40 would be a great primary.

Adam

Adam do you think that the PDR HX-40 would hold up to all of that boost. Otherwise that sounds like a great idea and would love to get together with you sometime to work on some ideas. Keep me informed. What other turbo were you looking for as I might now of a couple of people capable of finding one of em.

well guys i got an even better idea on the the primary turbo. It won't be easy to put in place, but the variable speed turbo on the new Fords will be the quickest spooling and easiest to get the exhaust around. I think they might be able to be sold at a reasonable price too!

As far as the Hx-35 adn the ht3b I don't know a lot but I guess that they are using the Hx-35 as the secondary and the ht3b as the primary. we actually have a 400 cummins and if that is the turbo you are referring to then holy cow that thing is huge. I can see why it would take the hx-35 to even get that thing spinning.

Your right the exhaust out of the 35 will more than spin the HT3B but(in reference) the 35 is the primary and HT3B is the secondary, then you'll have to have a wategate setup to get rid of air on the upper end, if you don't you'll make 80 PSI boost.

no, the NEW ford turbo, The variable speed one on the new 6. 0 litre motor. It has an electric solenoid on it. It would be the small turbo.

Reb. B: I was referring to Diesel Freak's post about using a 1. 15 A/R turbine housing..... and how he wants to use a T-88 Garrett. My reference is for the Garrett\PSD\1. 15 A/R relationship... . and had nothing to do with the new 6. 0L PSD's turbo... . not to discredit any of it's neat features or anything.

Matt

I agree with Adam after reading some of you alls posts that the pdr Hx-40 would make a good primary turbo. Do you all think that the ht3b would still work as the secondary turbo. IF so I would like to know where I could find the dimensions of this turbo so that I could see how these two would work together. As I am fairly sure that I would be able to find the ht3b somewhere pretty cheap. Do you all suggest having piers or someone else do their magic on these turbos as well.

with a turbine of the size I am looking at... 3. 63/3. 89 (exducer diameter/major diameter) which by the way is larger than the turbune on an HT3B... I would need a housing toi spool it by at least 1800 RPM.

the largest housing available is the '88 is the 1. 32 A/R. and if it were used with the 3. 85/4. 23 (exducer diameter/major diameter) Turbine... I do not think it would spool till 2400 RPM... . but that is just a guess.

why would u want a pdr 40 as a primary instead of a pdr 35? just wastegate it before the primary.

Can't say it is the best idea but I sure like it and I know it works!

Jim I am still new to teh whole twin turbo game and I guess that I am not for sure how all of this works together, but I am wanting to do this to my truck in the very near future. This is what I understand is that you are using an hx-35 to feed the big turbo that you are using. By the way what is this other turbo. IF I do decided to go with teh Hx-35 I was wondering where you got your wastegate set up that you have and some of the plumbing did you make most of this stuff yourself or have others fab the stuff. If others made it I would be interested in getting their info on how to contact them for these supplies. Thanks

Tony

Tony, my wastegated air goes to the down pipe, take a look at the readers rigs pics under my name for the other ideas, no one fabbed anything for me I did all of it and 6 Months before I did it I was were you are at so keep getting info and study your truck and all the pics you can. Little turbo is a stock HX-35 with a PDR 16cm housing and the big turbo is a PDR HT3B that kicks butt!
