I am in need of some immediate help. I removed the npt fitting screwed into the post filter test port on my '99's fuel filter canister and got air into the system. Cant start. I have bumped the starter many many times and cracked the fitting till diesel spewed out and still can get it going. After I replaced the fitting, I bumped the starter several times and she started only to die 5 seconds later... . HELP!!!

Did you try to open the valve on the fuel filter canister? You should see fuel coming out that way. If you dont see fuel try and turn the key to the on position and see if there is feul coming out that way

YES... . I cracked the test port fitting (post filter) until alot of fuel came out. I think i may need to bleed at the banjo fitting on pump???

bleed

I was told to bleed the fitting in front of the banjo fitting at the pump, but the only sure fire thing is to crack the first 2 or 3 injector lines, and crank. Once it starts, start tightening lines. Ray

Challenger II,

Bleed as many fuel lines as you can reach (do at least 3). This should allow you to start. Then take for a ride... this should take the air out of the rest of the lines.

do what Ray said, bleed it at the banjo, just before pump and then try priming it some more. do not open that fitting again. if it still wont fire, then crack a few of the injector lines and bump start it untill you get some fuel at the lines. tighten them back down, and prime it one more time.

should fire up then :D

:D :D Thanks to all who reponded! I cracked the banjo fitting on the injector pump and bumped the starter. Diesel full all over the place. Went back and cranked her over and after 5 or so seconds, she fired up!! :D 13 psi on the FP gauge at idle... time for a beer. Thanks again.
