Time to Trade Up on New Tractor

Vt365

I have a stock 99 2500 Quad cab 4X4 And will be moving from Pa. to Alaska this spring. I will be towing a 10,000 lb trailer. Does anyone have a thought of how I can boost HP and mileage, the hills in BC. and the Yukon are long and steep. I drove it last year in a gas dump truck and trailer and was at a crawl by the time I got to the top. Thanks!

If it is a 47RE automatic I would practice learning patience and let it pull slowly up the grades as it is.

If your truck has a manual transmission I'd suggest a set of Bosch Cummins 275 hp motorhome injectors. The upgraded injectors are reasonably priced, completely reliable. They'll wake up a 24valve engine and cause no harm but as with almost any aftermarket modifications, you should have a set of guages to avoid possibly melting a piston on a long hard pull. The injectors will peg the pyro.

As Barlow said have patience. But a transmission temp guage and a EGT guage would be really helpful. This would let you know when to drop down a gear and take your time, watch the guages and enjoy the scenery.
