My brother-in-law called me about 5min ago and wants me to look at a truck with him today at 4:00 PM. Thats right, less than an hour and a half. I need several questions answered, that I don't have time to search for.

The truck is a 2500 QC 4x4 Auto Sport SB. That is all I know at this point in time. I think that he has his heart set on it already.

I have two main questions... ...

1) How can I tell at first glance (On the window sticker or on the truck) if it is an 04 or 04. 5.

2) Sticker price on the truck is 41K and some change. The dealer quoted 33K out the door. Is this fair.

Thanks so much for your help.

Justin

4x4 or 2x4? ST,SLT, or LAramie. There is a tag on the front driver side of the block that gives you engine HP 305 is an 04 325 04. 5. If it is a 4x4 SLT sounds like a good price

You can tell an 04. 5 for sure by looking for the CAT at the front end of the exhaust system. Although it's pretty subtle, the 04. 5 also has a plastic cover over the left side (looking at the front of the truck) of the intercooler. If you look at an 03/04 and then look at an 04. 5, you can see the cover just by looking thru the grill.

The price seems reasonable, but he should make sure it's really the truck he wants and is not buying the wrong one on impulse. His excitment sends up a note of caution.

Yes I think that it is the truck he wants... ..... He went in to order one today, and the dealer told him that he could get the one off of the lot for 1200 less than the one he was going to order. I think that this one actually has more on it than what he was intending on getting. Again, I havn't seen the truck yet to give you all of the specifics.

I'll update you all on the details tonight or tomorrow. This is the same dealer that I've purchased my last 2 from. He is very good with price, but I'm thinking that with the deal he is offering, it may be a 04 H0, not a 600.

Thanks again for the quick help.

Justin

Hope this isn't too late but. .

The date of manufacture is on the tag on the driver door. Anything after 01/01/04 is an 04. 5

04. 5 will have a HUGE Cat

I have seen 04. 5's with "Cummins 600" on the window sticker

Sounds like it may be an 04 - but if it is an HO just the way he wants it, go for it - the "old" 305/555 package runs REAL strong!

:D

Good luck, keep us posted!

Mike

Ok everyone... . here is the rundown.

The truck in question is a Black 2004. 5 2500 QC sb, Auto, SLT Sport 4x4. It has "Cummins 600" plain as day on the window sticker, a CAT, and a "ISB 325" on the engine tag.

It has the following options:

Premium cloth 40/20/40 split power seat

Sport Package

Sliding rear window

3. 73 LSD

Protection Group

Security Group

Towing Package

Off Road Tires

Fog Lights

Auto Trans

and Obviously 5. 9L Diesel

Apparently the truck was ordered for a gentlemen last Nov. For some reason he backed out of the deal before the truck was delivered last week.

Thank you again for the quick responses. It just proves that TDR people are the best. :)

P. S. I'll be getting the brother-in-law a membership as a welcome gift.

Yea... ... ... He got it. :D :D

Sorry I wasn't clear on that.

I took it for a test drive at the dealer, and it was a very good first impression. I never realized how comfortable and quiet these 3rd gen trucks were. Gives me just a little truck envy.

With a deal like that sounds like DC wants to get the new 600 on the streets.

From what I can tell sounds like a great deal and in Black a nice color.

Lot deals are usually on sticks not auto's thats a sweet price.

I'd like to thank everyone for helping out. I am the proud new owner of my first truck. I'll have to go read the abbreviation FAQ to figure out what my sig should look like :)
