The new 48 RE Heavy Duty Reman transmission P/N is R5103353AD, $3,195. Mine will be installed next Thurs. I hope its worth the $$$$.

Gary

While they were in there playing around, they disabled my high idle. I have a call in to the dealer, we'll see what happens.

They didn't intentionaly disable your hi idle. They flashed the Pcm. After flashing the controller they will need to have all the options turned back on.

Bob

I realize it wasn't intentional, it happens. My DRL's still work, must be in a different part of the ecm, pcm, or ???

Why on earth would Dodge put a light duty trans in a heavy duty truck? THEN,,,,come out with a heavy duty replacement?? I thought Cummins and Dodge had their crap together finally! Guess I'm just another dumb consumer!!#@$%!

:-laf:-laf It's not that the 48 is light duty it's just that we expect to abuse and keep on truckin... ... ... ... ... ... ...

The heavy duty is a replacement re-manufactured 48re with Kevlar 1st & reverse clutches, billet front housing, better torque converter, improved valve body, and some other gizmos and stuff I can't remember. It is sold through its performance line and built in KC if I remember correctly. It list around $4900 and has an 80,000 mile warranty.

Well, how is the new transmission?? Is it as good as all the hype?? Inquiring minds need to know.

Does any one know the part number for the 05??

I'd be curious as to how it compares to the aftermarket trannies.

I figure I chipped my truck so nothing from engine to tires is under warranty anyway. I don't have any problems with my transmission but it doesn't feel like much of the power is getting past it to the tires. I should have gotten the manual. Now I get to spend a whole lot more if I want to use the power I make. I could've just not paid the extra for the auto and been fine with a clutch. Live and learn I guess.
