Need info. on egt's.

I was wondering what exhaust temps. other 3rd gens. are running at lately because mine seem a little high to me. Air temps. are mid 70's and 80's. On flat ground, with my Edge at level 2, I am running at five to six hundred degrees. Going up a hill easily brings them up to eight or nine hundred. If I accelerate quickly (no WOT) it's eight, eight-fifty easily. Am I just being paranoid, or is this a little warm? Exhaust is stock for now, but probably not for long! EGT's are from an Edge Juice, so I don't know if that is less accurate than a mechanical guage would be.

I can easily top 1000 on hard acceleration and 1400 at WOT. The numbers you posted sound about right and in the safe range. I generally cruise, empty truck, at 650 to 800 depending on terrain and speed.

Is the EGT probe Pre or Post turbo? If Pre, then your are at a happy place, Temp wise. Moose00

I try not to go above 1250-1300*, but if I'm crawling up a pass and there are Fords and Chevies around, I'll go 1400-1450* just to dust them off :-laf

Nice dusting! I too like to blow by other vehicles on impossible grades and pulling huge trailers or boats. I use my Snow Water/Meth injection to blow the summit. (Thats what I call it anyway) Thanks

I have my TST set to defuel at 1350* and rarely see that daily driving. With all defueling off and triple stacked I have seen 1710* on the TST readout and the Autometer gauge pegged at 1600* for a second or so. Scarry hot.

Similarly, I can hit 1450 easy pulling the trailer. Still climbing at that temp. but I back out quickly. Should note this is on a completely stock truck.

How about sled pullin, Im gonna be runnin an TST on an 06 with a SB DD but im gonna be stuck with the stock turbo for awhile, and a guy told me that in that short of time i would be ok, is this true or should i be coutious?
