Stock steel wheels needed

I just bought a new 28' Travel trailer and have the "stock" power heated mirrors. I plan to order the extended mirrors from Dodge parts.com. . They have a "non" electric set for $210 and a "elecrtic" set for $310. I have electric heated mirrors now on the truck. Is this a direct plug in replacement to the stock plug or am I in for an afternoon of wire chasing. I would think all i will have to do is pull the door pannels and pull off the old and replace with the new. Am I correct? Has anyone else out there done this? If they wont work with my stock switches, I will save the $100 and buy the non electric ones. .

Thanks in advance. I pick up the trailer Monday morning and don't plan to make any trips until I get the new mirrors.

i actually don't like the trailer tow mirrors that much..... make a blind spot the size of the titanic on the passenger side and your eye is always drawn to the little mirror first.

Less than an hour. You just need to pull the door panels off and take off the three nuts on the studs that mount the mirror to the door. Unplug the electrical connection. Do the reverse with the new mirror.

:)

The trailer towing mirrows were ordered on my new 04 CTD. Both my Wife & I love them. She drives this truck a lot more than our old "93" CTD. It is like night & day. We tow a 26' Alpenlite trailer. For 12 years I suffered with slip on mirrors and the rest to see. These are just great !. Do not worry about the little spot mirrors as you will get used to them or just ignore them. Wish I had these 12 years ago. If one tows trailers a lot, You will not be sorry.

I,also, installed a set of the tow mirrors on my '03. Like others have said, just plugs right in and works well. Much better than the stock mirrors. I wish there was a way to install much larger convex mirrors. On my '91 Dodge, I installed an 8" convex mirror on the passenger side and a 7" on the drivers side. Got them from a "Big Truck" store. Boy, do those mirrors work great! Hardly ever use the stock mirrors. You can see everything in those mirrors. I just can't figure out how to attach those larger mirrors to the plastic housings on these new trucks. Joe.

Easy Mod you will like them!

The trade out of the stock ones to the tow mirrors is very easy mod to do as stated in above post. But a little tip is if you have the Ventshade visors on your truck now installed take your time an work the mirror out easy, because that visor end does over-lap the mirror mount. I done the passenger side first on my truck an end up snapping the end off that visor. I took my time on the drivers side an had no problems.

The Stock Mirrors are worse any car smaller or lower than a Saturn SL would didsapear next to you! At least with the trailer mirrors you have a blind spot mirror. If there was a class action law suit against DC for there cruddy stock mirrors I would be the first to sign up on it. If you have stock mirrors stick on a blind spot mirror on the right side before you kill somebody.

PBJohnson2 Your 400 bucks will be well spent for the mirror upgrade! Enjoy get the heated ones you want them for the wet and cool months.

Something I noticed about these mirrors when I was checkin' trucks compared to a Furd, with the mirrors "in", they were in about an inch tighter than a Ferd... . when they were flipped up and "out", the extended 1. 5" further out than the Fird. Overall, I think these cant be beat, and they ought to be stock on all CTD's.

Does anyone have a measurement on how far these stick out over stock? I would like to get a set but am concerened that they may be too wide to fit in my garage (2 trucks -very close fit now with stock power mirrors (non-tow)

SWIVEL, The trailer tow mirrors do stick out farther than the stock. Even in the city "mode" they stick out more. These are electrical and defrosted also. They fold in to the door faceing the back but not front. Its hard to get the best of both worlds but these come pretty close. I noticed on my first tow with these mirrors, I could even see good without the flip/up even. First time I can see very good behind me.

Hi Swivel..... I just measured mine. Not super accurate because I don't have anyone home now to hold the other end of the tape, but will be pretty close. I measured from the most outer part of the mirror, through the cab to the other outer most part of the mirror. When folded down for city driving, I am about 104" wide, and open for towing they are about 111" wide. Hope this helps. By the way, I second the blind spot posts, but they are still excellent for towing. I use city mode when not towing because of the blind spot factor, but can't beat them for towing a 102" wide fiver!!!

i have the tow mirrors on mine and after 40k miles they both have a lot vibration in them... ... i can hear them rattling going down the road with the radio turned down sometimes... ... i've already had one replaced under warranty but now they're both doing it again... ... i've checked the 3 mounting bolts and they're tight... ... the joint where they fold in keeps getting loose... ... . with them down i can still see out of them ok..... but when flipped up in tow mode they're almost useless..... anyone else having this problem?????

Tight Places

Other tight places to consider other than a garage is drive-thru's like at a bank. I noticed real quick that after installing my tow mirrors when I pull thru I really have to watch an not make the mistake of hitting the concrete post, I 'm talking with in a inch or less it is tight at where I bank at. I have seen the battle wounds, others have left.

I bought my mirrors today! The local Dodge dealer made me a deal on them. $300 but I had to install them. It took less than 30 min to install both of them. They look great and I can see behind me now! Thanks for all the advice guys! Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Radshooter,

Thanks for the measurement - It looks like my stockers are about 97-98". Might be just a tad too wide for parking comfort.
