The crankshaft seal kit has a part with cummins with number 3933261 and numbers 100452BX and also numbers S-12111. Found nothing in the parts kit or service manual that tells how this small rubber backed seal is used. Has rubber molded to a metal ring. Talked to a Dodge diesel guy and he didn't know either. Said he had has never seen a reason for all the seal kits he has replaced.



Any help out there.

Put that dust seal on over the crank just before you put the vibration damper back on. Like it says, it helps to keep out the dirt that might work its way under the seal that you worked so hard to get into the timing gear cover.
