Feel yourselves fortunate, you could be like me and after several dealers not finding my problem, got stuck with a private diesel shop that, IMO accidently found the problem (crossover tubes) costing me $7500 for his repair only, not to mention what I put into this truck through all the dealers that claimed to fix my problem and said "sorry not under warrantee". nightmare story, posted it here a few months ago..... moral of the story, know your truck, diagnose the repair yourself and here on tdr don't let yourself get snookered like I did. BTW, truck runs good now and should have cost me $50 in parts plus 1 hr of labor.

With all this injector talk and the truck being quieter after having the injectors replaced and all I am thinking I should pull mine out and send them to Don M.

What is the approximate cost if I were to send mine in and have some Flux 1's sent back to me or mine turned in to them, however that works?
Don will go thru and check them before he starts the modding process to make them into flux 1's. That is part of the cost for the modding. If they need repaired, that price is charged in addition to the price for modding them. The only other charges is freight, if you do the install yourself. :D

If you need a price breakdown, PM me, i will get it to you. :D

Another sign that the injectors had been bad a while... my Gulf Coast is keeping the oil visibly cleaner now... no more sludge black, only gray! I had wondered why the bypass hadn't acted like it was keeping up... now I know.

What sucks about this is the fact it is such a gradual thing... you don't even notice.

That is all...

I just bought an 05 with 24k on it and when I do a cold start up it has a fluttering miss for about 10 seconds then it smooths out. It runs great otherwise. I can't tell if it is quieter as I have nothing to compare it to except my BOMBED 02.

Would the rough cold start be a start of troubles? I think it is kind of normal.

When I say rough start, it would actually kick the starter... it would buck before it actually started and ran. To be laughed at, instead of a whirrrrrrrrrrr-start from the starter, you would get a whirrrr-(buck)-errr-start. It was bad enough, I feared it would eventually take out the starter.

A rough idle when first started is normal in colder weather in my experience... mine does it with the new injectors.

Hope that helps...

Just rolling this thread back up to the top... have around 10k on these sticks.

Still getting an intermittent rough idle upon cold startup, but it smooths out within a few seconds...

Got to tow around 4500#s this weekend... EGTs are way down, topping out around 1300 on a long hard pull in 6th. Before they'd skyrocket to around 1450-1500 with hardly any input... don't get me wrong, when playing I've seen almost 1600 at WOT, but for towing I can actually run 6th gear now without losing speed or down shifting.

Very little smoke, not nearly as much as with the old (worn) injectors... I attribute that to the extra fuel being introduced throughout the entire cycle. The only time I get any significant smoke is lugging a gear at low RPM (like just upshifting on a hill at low speeds)... but it is short lived.

And it pulls great... you can't even really tell 4500#s is back there...

Injectors were definitely the source of a lot of my problems...

dont count out industrial injection, they make some really awesome injectors.

yea i 2nd that... I. I. would be a great choice. they make big injector purchases from bosch (if i remember from talking to them) and extrude hone them which is their 50hp injectors which are nice for mpg. so you have new injectors and more mpg. there is a core fee but that so they can try to recycle good injectors. if they are non repairable they are not used. also they sell their injectors in balanced sets. replacing nozzles on old eroded injector bodies balances nothing.
