Do the mopar hood bug shield screw on or two sided tape ? Do they mess up your windshield wipers on the highway ? I interested in the chrome one. Are there any problem with the chrome ones ? Thanks

The Mopar factory bug shield screws into existing factory holes on the front of the truck. It does not affect my windshield wipers on the highway or anywhere else. Mine is the same black color as the truck and it blends in beautifully. A buddy of mine has the chrome one and has no problems with his either. They are very stout compared to other bug shields and look nice. They don't protect over the lights, but I think the ones for headlights look like eyebrows.

Craig-Have you considered the 3M clear shield ? I did a "full wrap" on my truck, including the rocker panels, and couldn't be happier. In my experience with having the bug deflector on my other trucks, I really like the way the wrap protects the hood and fenders, not to mention the rockers. Here in Colorado they put rocks on the road in icy weather, so I decided this time around I'd try the 3M stuff. It works great. Just my $. 02 . Bruce

The factory shield changes the slipstream enough that most intersecting insect paths are rerouted over or around the windshield. I remove and wash off huge amounts of bug debris from tow mirrors but hardly any from the windshield. Members in Louisianna would provide the truest testimonials. There, love bugs are so numerous scuba gear is required while lawn mowing.

Now my question is: do you feel they help keep any bugs off the windshield?

Bug shields are designed to keep the bugs and rocks off of your paint. Any bugs flying higher than the bug shield, will splat on your windshield (same with rocks). It does eliminate the lower flying bugs from hitting the paint.
