question about hwo i can get more boost i'm hitting about 34 right now, but it doesn't seem to want to get up there until high 3rd and 4th gear, i have a boost elbow and the comp for fooling, but what can i do with my wastegate, i've heard of people pinching it shut, what does that consist of? sorry for the noob question just wondering i want to do around 40 psi thanks

Aaron

if you have a boost elbow in, turnbuckling the wastegate shut probably will not get you any type of increase. The guys that turnbuckle their wastegates are the automatic guys. Certain years had a hardline going to the wastgate. There was no way to install the boost elbow fitting.

When I got my TST Powermax box it came with a J-Hook that slows down the wastegate opening. But my HY turbo used this because it had the "hardline" and could not use a power elbow. 34lbs from an HY35 is pretty good, thats about all I ever got from mine. With the dodgezilla I am getting 43-44lbs. I may be wrong but 40lbs from an HY35 is never going to happen. If you could get 40lbs it would be too much for that little turbo.

You might try a Turbomaster Boost controller from Heath Diesel Power. I put one on my 01 HO 6spd and could definately tell the spool up time was shorter. It replaces the whole factory vaccuum setup and is adjustable with a 1/2 inch wrench. Easy to install too.

I don't have an hy35 i have the hx35, i know the hy is smaller so more boost is a given that it won't happen, but i still wanna know how i can get a little more out of my hx and i'm getting injectors this week so the fuel is going to be there

If you put injetors in, then don't worry, the fuel is what pushes the turbo to make more boost. The boost elbow will do the job. You don't need to turnbuckle anything

injectors installed :D got the boost i was looking for 40 psi on the dot, it made a world of difference i high suggest them to anyone

What size injectors did you install to get 40 PSI?

I installed DD super menthals (125+hp) they rock! and tonight irealized my fuel milage was a lot higher on the freeway i was getting over 30mpg and in town depends on the driving i do i was making it smoke a lot and average as 20. they are nice!!! :D

Don't rely on your overhead computer to give you actual mpg's. It will be way off with just the injectors not to mention a fueling box. Phil :D

fuel milage

my computer says 24-25mpg now. .

look at my mods... + heavy right foot all the time... black smoke a rollin'... .

25mgp yeah right!

yea i'm starting to think my computer is way off, if i drive about 43mph right at lockup, i looked at my mpg and it said 55!!! yes 55 not a misprint, i just started laughing and sped up

That overhead computer woks on throttle position. Boxes & bigger injectors add more fuel for any given throttle setting. That throws the computer way off. It sure would be nice if they could be recalibrated.
