Hey guys... . my 2005 needs stronger driving lamps. What can I do. Already did a couple of searches but I don't want a brite box or anything like that. I just want a lamp that gives decent output as opposed to the factory.

btw- this is the only fault I have with my truck. Other than this, this things is the cat's meow... .

Tony,

Try checking PIAA replacement bulbs out. They have a couple of different one's in the 9007 series that may work.

I agree with you the lights are poor. I put Sylvania SilverStar's on both the headlights and the fog. It was some help; but not what I wanted. If I load the truck it brings the lights up and they do a better job; but most of the time the truck isn't loaded. D/C great job... .

contact Baker performance (makers of the Brite Box), they just started selling a kit to put 9005 bulbs in the place of the factory 9006's. This kit is called fogzilla and Geno's also sells it.

The crummy lights have bothered me since mine was new. There unfortunately isn't a bulb on the p[lanet that will fix the poorly designed reflector portion of the headlight. Sylvania makes a good bulb, might give some improvement. The brite-box just turns on all the lights but doesn't fix the reflector either, another marginal improvement. The only solution is a pair of aftermarket lights added to the bumper or a grille gaurd. $48k truck and a pocket Mag light does a better job of lighting the road

Well I've had the "Brite-Box" on both my 2001 and my 2005. With the Fogzilla mod and the 9005 replacement lights, my 2005 has a lot more light available. Also move the beam of the fog lights up just slightly. If you want more light then these mods, the only way to do it is to add a light bar. No bulb is going to make that much difference by itself... ;)

Limp lights

DC won't admit it but the headlight reflector is the problem. No matter what you put in 'em, Brite Box of whatever, will do much good because the reflector is what sprays light around in front of the truck instead of down the road where it's needed. Your headlights won't bother oncoming drivers but in the meantime you can't see squat, get it? I'd like to see some old codger sue DC for selling him a truck that he couldn't see well with.

The only solution is KCs, Hellas or something else mounted on a light bar across the front.

I have tried both PIAA (Xtreme White Plus) and Silverstar bulbs. Don't get me wrong, I like PIAA Products, but the Silverstars worked better for a little less $$$$. You are ultimately limited by the poor reflector design. I do a lot of night driving, in an area with large critters (ELK), and have purchased a light bar and some Hella FF1000 driving lights. Just need to install the new stuff.
