I have a '97 4x4 Ram - 12 valve, 5 speed, and have noticed a recent reduction in power, especially when towing boat with camper. Have 112,000 miles on engine, that has only been equipped with new fuel stop plate - enhanced to limited amount of black smoke, K&N air filter in stock box, stock exhaust, no muffler (I was thinking of increasing exhaust size and adding gauges i. e. turbo press gauge & pyro). my question is - can anyone recommend the probable means whereby I can increase this engine's performance, in order of effectiveness. Thanks to this site for the wealth of info and comraderie. :Bob

fill out signature first and then do you have k&n in the stock air box or so you have a aftermarket air box if not that is one thing to do first is airbox and filter then if you have a fuel plate I would put in 3gsk that is a nice improvement to go with the fuel plate but your transmission of clutch isn't going to like any power increase for to long depending on the fuel plate you put in plus these upgrades don't push out alot of black smoke and what it does smoke is controlable by foot pressure and the turbo will clean it up pretty fast

Loss of power is a problem, these trucks just don't do that for no reason. Check your fuel pressure, 9 times out of 10 it's either a clogged fuel filter or a bad overflow valve causing it.

www.citydiesel.net has some of the best prices, especially for the 3000 RPM governer spring kit and the isspro gauge package.
