Good day all

What can you do to these C&C for more power? I know that they are de-rated from the regular trucks and that you can't put a programmer on these one yet. So what is there that can be done to these trucks?

I just ordered an 2011 4500, when test driving I noticed it is kind of a dog, but has to be more reliable than my F450. I don't think it will pull with my 98. 5 which sounds similar to your truck. I emailed Smarty (Mad electronics) they said they are working on a unit for the cab and chassis but were not ready to state a release date. So that will be what I hold out for. There has been reports of fresh air kits setting codes and some not, that might help. I have had good luck with methanol on my older trucks, not sure how that works with the dpf but should reduce regen as methanol absorbs the fuel and increases the use of the mixture so theoretically less smoke, less regen?

Sorry not much help, have noticed that this forum is still a bit of a start up,

The cab and chassis trucks are tuned for a little less horsepower and are heavier so acceleration is a bit slower than a new ISB6. 7 pickup w/350/650 but as the C&Cs accumulate some miles they loosen up and run pretty good. Mine will run off and hide from ordinary cars and pickups who try to accelerate from a traffic light just so they can get in front of me then slow down and turn. I"m satisfied with it as is.

:--)Hey Keith, don't try to haul to much of our steel at once!! You're spoiled rotten. Maybe if you were not in the truck it would go faster? Try sticking your head out the window, open your mouth and inhail really fast, that may help with the wind drag.

ya I tried that but all I'm getting is bugs in the teeth. George has been driving it and he loves it. but it's not the 02

I have an '09 C&C 4500 (see my sig) I installed the MADS Smarty 6. 7L. I only added 60 HP and upped the governed speed to 90mph. I like it. Haven't been on any long trips or towed, but will be towing in Nov. I think the motor is now pretty close to the P/Us, but not exceeding Aisin torque rating.

KDOERR

I've thought about this thread and have formed a question. How do you shift the truck and where is target RPM (sweet spot) on your truck? Just curious. My truck seems like the 1st, 2d and 3d gen 5. 9s and now my 6. 7L. It seems to do real well just shy of 2K rpm (maybe 1975?). Another thought is dyno it. I know, the real test of a truck is driving it, but would be interesting to see how it builds power, where it is strongest, and where it starts falling. Give you something to analyze. My 5. 9 3500 would pull long 7% grade at about 45mph at the top. EGTs where the biggest limiting factor.

I'm prepping my 4500 and TS for a trip to Big Bend over the week of Thanks giving and will be hitting some serious grades. I can let you know how it does. If it doesn't do well, I haven't sold my 3500. I'll log all stats and see how she does.

good luck and keep us informed on what you do and how it works.

Happy Trails,

Wiredawg
