Here is what I found out. The Derale fan 17120 will work - with some work. The fan hub diameter is 2.59375 where the fan clutch (Hayden) hub diameter is 2.62. Being as there is usually not a REAL tight fit it was very easy to use a dial caliper and measure distance between edge of bolt hole and the edge of the fan hub. Evenly remove about 10 thousands with a file (doesn't have to be REAL precise) and the fan will bolt onto the fan clutch. As you can see from the pics the offset of the fan hub to fan blade is a lot for the OEM fan, but the new one is centered. This makes it a bit tight between the fan and the harmonic balancer or the oil fill tube - between 3/8 and 1/2". However since the fan flexes AWAY from those it should be ok.

If I find a new OEM fan for a reasonable price I'll put it on. If I find a repo fan for a reasonable price I'll put it on. Will this probably do me for the life of the truck - yea. I'd be more concerened if I still lived in Glendale, AZ (next to Phoenix) where you can never get enough cooling for any vehicle - at least for me.

If I forgot something let me know. If you want different pics - let me know. Either way it was MUCH cheaper than other options and will do fine.

Fan was bought from Summit Racing.

Here is my assessment.
- Fan appears noisier than stock or I was just used to the noise the stock fan made.
- No issues cooling in 100 degree heat when empty and the A/C works just fine.
- Pulling a light trailer (about 2500 lbs) in 70 degree heat no problem.
- Pulling same trailer in 85 degree weather no problem and A/C works just fine.
- At idle there is enough air movement to suck a paper towel firmly on the A/C condenser.

Wish I could have pulled heavier, but that didn't happen. So I'll leave this one on till I have troubles, which at this point I'm not expecting.

Just a quick update for those who care.

This fan has been working just fine. Looked at it when I replaced the belt and tensioner and all still is fine.

I for one care. Thanks for the update. Because of your post I kept an eye out for a used fan and found one with an OEM fan clutch attached. I promptly bought it and used it for awhile to ascertain the clutch was good, then removed it and have it in my shop as a spare.
