RE:Billet fuel filter cap(Awesome)

My '00 2500 Automatic has started to shudder while towing 26' Travel Trailer up moderate grade inclines. I am told TC is probably culprit. Currently upgaded with BD PNP, 40 Horse Injectors, BD Exhaust and modified Valve Body, and totally synthetic. Have been given choice of BD or Banks TC. Hope I'm not opening up something here; just looking for a little comparison feed back on pro's and con's before I place my order and put my hard earned $$ on the table (to never get it back again). Am leaning towards installing X-Monitor for Pyro, Boost and Trans Temp at same time. Anything I need to know about its performance (also fairly$$). I understand there are now good ways to hook-up Fuel pressure gauges also. Any guidance as to where to start looking for these? Thanks in advance!

There are lots of other TCs out there beside what BD and Banks offer.

Here's a short list in no particular order:

Suncoast

DTT

Goerend

They'll all do the job a whole lot better than your OEM unit... do the research and make some calls. Do business with the folks you feel most comfortable with and who offer what you believe is the best product.

Many better TC's out there than Banks or BD. Have only heard horror stories about BD's and you don't have enough money in the bank to pay me to run something that say's Banks on it in my pickup.

The three listed above all have their goods and bads. Easy to see which one I like via my signature.

ATS! 800-949-6002

Their TripleLok will NOT slip, and is guaranteed for 100,000 miles!

They strengthen the entire Trans, not just the TC.

For your gauges, try Geno's garage. www.genosgarage.com

Did you try the reflash at the dealer? Did you clean the battery posts? Try a filter on the APPS befroe you take the trans out!!!

Do the simple things and cheaper things First!!!All the honest shops will recommend them also. At least the shops that I know.

It is real frustrating to R + R a trans and still have the problem.

I would check out ATS, there converter is bullet proof in my opinion.

If you are set on the 2 above, I wouldnt give banks one red cent of my money ever!

#1 DTT Bill tells it like it is so listen because he knows these things in and out and will stand behind their product.

#2 Suncoast Joe will take care of you. Over 70k on mine trouble free running @ 140psi wot.

#3 Ats Heard both good and bad about customer service. [do a search] Never had a chance to try one .

#4 BD Their older models were JUNK at best and I learned that first hand! Their new ones are better and look basically like a Suncoast rip-off to me. They do have more lock-up clutch surface area than the older Suncoast that I'm running now. If this is the route make sure it has a current model #.

Banks will overcharge you and will more than likely let you down with customer support if you need it. I know that first hand.

Every business in existence will experience a problem once in awhile. It is how that business handles the problem which tells you about them.

Guys who have had negative experiences with DTT have posted on this site, and no one doubts DTT's service.

Personally I know of dozens of guys who have gotten Sterling treatment from ATS me included. My initial ATS installation, 2 years ago, was just about perfect. But I was visiting ATS last Sept. , and about 5 minutes before quitting time I found myself in conversation with Mike, and I mentioned to him that I thought my kickdown cable needed adjustment--I had been told that by another TDR guy. Mike listened to my description of the problem, and even though it was quitting time, AND rush hour, he insisted on taking my truck out for a test drive. I didn't go with him. About 15 minutes later he came back, pulled my truck up onto a vacant lift, raised the truck, drained the fluid, pulled the Mag-Hytec and pulled the Valve Body, and took it upstairs to Jeff, one of ATS' transmission builders. I stayed out of their way! Jeff & Mike replaced a spring in the V. B. , Mike brought it back downstairs, slapped it in the truck, put the Pan on, filled it with fluid and THEN smiled and said, "It should be OK now!" It was--no more "kickdown cable" symptoms! The whole thing only took 1/2 hour, but it made them work after quitting time. Clint was not there, so they obviously weren't trying to impress the boss--they were just trying to help me!

It's taken me some time to research all these different trans upgrades that are available today. It can be confusing at times to weed out all the print that is out there. I put the ATS TC and VB in 2 weeks ago-WHAT A DIFFERENCE!. I can tell you ATS and I did spent quite a bit of time on the phone since the parts were to be shipped up here to Alaska. Joel and Clint took all the time necessary to address all the questions I had prior, during, and after the purchase.

Tomorrow I'll wire in the Commander.

The truck only had about 10,000 mile on it. I'm putting a camper in the truck for awhile and I didn't want any problems or worries.

The shifts points are perfect keeping you in the power band. The mileage has come up 1 MPG since the upgrade. The trans now seems more directly connected to the CTD under all types of acceleration.

If only Dodge would have put these parts in at the factory:confused: .

DTT is by far my first choice. But if I coudln't have one a ATS would be my secound. I have a full DTT in my truck and a DTT VB in my wifes. Hers will be getting a full DTT in about a month. Oo.
