Hey,

I have a cracked line, it is the one on the front of the transmission, drivers side, towards the front of the truck. It comes out of the transmission and then bends towards the front of the truck, well right in that bend it cracked and leaks, so obviously I need a new line.

I called the dealer and apparently the line is really back ordered, he tells me he is trying some dealers throughout the country but so far no luck.

Now, I described the part that I need to him over the phone and he could very well be searching for the wrong part, maybe he misunderstood me, who knows, he told me he knew what I was talking about.

Do you guys know the part and know where I can get one?

I could take a picture of the line later today for clarification.

Thanks for your help.

Sean

Sean,

You can look at the Dodge part catalogs here:

Dodge Truck Parts Catalogs

Maybe that'll help you positively ID the correct line and get the correct part number.

Good luck,

John L.

Hey John, thanks, I did search for the part that he told me:52028732ac and it appears that he has the correct part number. I am really surprised that this part is not available, at least not where I have tried. I am not sure what my next step is.

thanks

Sean,

Until you can get your hands on the correct OEM part, can you cut out a short section of the line where the leak is and slip a length of high pressure fuel line over the gap with multiple hose clamps on each side?

I was thinking of that but the problem is that there is not enough 'meat' for the hose to go over one side of the line. The crack is right in the bend where the line comes out of the transmission and bends forward, there is enough 'meat' after the bend but not before, the part between the nut and the bend.

To put it a different way, the distance between the connecting nut on the transmission and the bend just is not long enough, in my opinion, to use a hose and also, i could never get a tight seal since the crack is on the inside of the bend, would work if the crack was on a nice straight piece of the tube.

Thanks again for your tips

Take it off and braze it. Mine rubbed through by the starter on the frame it has held for the last year. Kinda a pita to get out, but that will get you by.

OK, that is another idea, can you give me any tips to tell a welder as to what type of material specifically it is or what the best way to do it is so that it will hold?

thanks

I just used a torch and a brazing rod. Don't get it too hot or you will open up your hole more.

I may end up doing that. Called one dealer who told me a few dealers who have the part in the US and called them and all of them tell me that the one oil line they have is a 'special order'. what are they running a damn museum, if you got it just sell it, just a load of *****.

thanks for the hael pagain, I am going to try some more calling tomorrow to find one.

You might consider having a hydraulic hose custom made. I replaced all my transmission lines on my 95 with hoses from a hydraulic hose shop. It was much cheaper than the Chrysler parts and much simpler. The local NAPA store directed me to the hose shop.

OK, great, another good option. Let me ask you, is it all rubber hose, part steel with rubber crimped in the middle or? Also, how did you handle the bends and so forth?

Here are pics of the line as well as the crack, I dunno, maybe a little brazing like was mentioned earlier? I am really out of options, I told the guy at the local Dodge dealer Parts Counter that I would give him a crisp $100. 00 bill if he can get it but I think a hydraulic shop is going to be the best option at this point.

Thanks for all the help!
