Here is my story.

At 75k lost 5th. Repaired. At 105k lost 5th again :{ .

At 119k trans started to make a bunch of noise. Decided to just put in a reman.

First mistake. Got a trans from MAN TRANS in FL. Installed all ok. Within 15k hard shifting andnoises start. They insist I have a clutch problem. SB clutch installed still have a problem. I run it about 10k and finally they are convinced I have a problem.

Around 145k second reman installed. First trip to IN & back (300 miles) it pukes out all the fluid. Call them. They say the seal was "clipped" on install no warranty :-{} . Seal removed no damage to it. Replace seal and yoke (it had a bit of wear) and due to excessive play in output shaft all the fluid is lost  .

Now with a vacation planned and not being able to get a new trans before then I have to install one that will atleast not puke the fluid out. But this one is next to impossible to get in reverse. Any idea on what would cause this??

Though all of this I learned a couple things 1. DO NOT BUY FROM MAN TRANS IN FLORIDA @. Support the vendors on here. I should have waited and got the trans from STANDAT TRANS IN TX. I am going to TX for my vacation and am having one done from them. Just need to make it down there. Karl

What kind of shape is your clutch slave and master cylinder it? Does it grind trying to go in reverse?? if it just won't go in and all the other gears are OK, then you definately have a trans issue. The place in Texas you referred to has a good reputation, as well as Quad 4X4 in Montana. Quad does have a new 5th gear fix called the "Torque King" that really looks good, when and if I ever have to do my trans, I'm going to do that kit. :D :D

That stuf is fine. I have no problem with reverse on this trans. Its another one that will not puke the fluid out so I can get to texas and get a reman from standard. Thought about quad, but he does not have one to ship out, he does only in shop stuff for complete units. Karl

Hi, I have an 82 GMC with a 93 5. 9 in it. The transmission is an nv 4500. It started life in a 93 Chev lton 2wd. It now sits behind the 5. 9 and has a 205 transfer case behind it. The guys at Blumenthal manufacturing, 405-232-9557, have helped with all the modifications to this trans. They will help with remans, parts, manuals, and all the help you need without making you feel stupid. I have yet to ask a question that they couldn't find an answer for.
