I need you guys opinion on mounting extra fog lights in the small rectangular area of the front bumper. The opening is roughly 9. 5"x4". The lamps that I have are 3. 5"x6. 5". Do I have to worry about cutting down the cooling in this area? What do you think... . Chris

I have PIAA 60 XT driving lamps in those openings—3. 5"x6. 75". I haven't noticed any increase in engine temperature with these lamps. Overheating problems seldom show up on this board.

I'm more concerned about the lamps being hit by a stray rock than I am with overheating.

Thomas, My truck is an auto and part of the oil cooler for the trans is exposed in this opening. Am I worrying to much? It's not like I live in Death Valley. Chris

I've had similarly sized PIAA 1500XT driving lights (not fog) in the same opening, for a full year now, and no problems at all with overheating.

Before they were installed, I asked the service department if that opening was meant for ventilation. They said no. Maybe they're right this time.

No problems so far with rock damage, and I drive on dirt and scoria roads quite often.

You can always test it first before installation by placing some cardboard in the hole. Run the truck under difference conditions and see what happens. No over heating... install the lights.
