Interesting..... Still toying with all of this!

Then again if I could find a nice W350 club or crew finished with a 5 speed, I would be willing to trade that! ;):D:D:D

BTW, dont tell my truck I said that. ;)

I know this thread is old, not as old as our trucks, but still old.
Having not done a lot of research into this yet, what do you think about this:
Use a 2wd manual transmission, machine an adapter to make the automatic transfer case a divorced mount?

This has been a long time discussion on many threads. In a nutshell, anything can be done.

Question is why? What will it do for you?

As for the tcase, quad 4x4 has info on that. Might suggest a scootching over to their site (if they still have the info there).

Well, as I re read this old thread, thought I would give an update. :)

I did do the getrag with the 3. 07. Was fantastic empty, but when you get over 20k gross, the 3-4 gap is huge! I did live with it for a year, then I got my sticky mits on dads old gear vendors. :D now we talking.

The GV splits 3-4 perfectly, and is the same ratio as 5th. I never use 5th anymore, loaded or unloaded. Rpm at 60 mph is 1500. Rpm at 75 mph is 1900 or so. Rpm at 85 mph is 2250 ish. Fantastic combo loaded or empty.

I do find a little clutch slippage off the line is needed if towing heavy but that is expected. Peter tells me I need to be a bit more abusive to my SBC anyways so that works I guess! ;)

In a nutshell, well recommended.
