i am looking very seriously at a full rear air ride suspension system such as this .

see sig for specs on truck please.

my only desire for this system is for a smoother ride. i have no interest in increasing load capacity. the truck runs empty 99%.

i have looked at the air bag over spring systems and feel that i would have to remove a few leafs on each side to get what i want. the downside to this approach is that i would probably end up with more axle roll and hop which is already a problem stock. i would then have to add traction bars to regain axle stiffness.

i have talked to the mfr. and have no doubt they make a quality product. but before i spend $$$$ for this system, i am looking for feed back from people that already HAVE this system.

so my questions for those that have this package:

does it significantly smooth out the bumps when empty? does the 4 link system included with this package keep the axle stiff?

and for those that may have a different system that they feel will do what i want, please post also. i am open to all suggestions

on edit: i am keeping the stock height of the truck. it will not be lifted. for me lower is better.

thank you

I just installed a DRC/Kore race system, all I can say is :--)

The control and ride is outstanding at speed. The steering stabilizer does wonders for steering control. For you I would suggest a Pace or Chase system, probably similiar in price to the Kelderman, but not sure. Call Greg at DRC and he will help you out if you are interested in Kore.

All I can say is Kore did their homework, these systems are designed for our trucks and they work awesome.

I have a completely air suspension on my truck and it rides great, but it's a lowrider (literally frame sits 2 inches from the ground all the way down) I designed and built the entire suspension. Parallel four link rear with a panhard and the front is the same with cut arms and bags instead od springs. As for comfort with the correct bags and shocks it can be very comforable. If you are looking for just comfort look into some sleeve bags if you want comfort and load carrying capacity look at convoluted bags. There's a lot more information about this on some low rider sites if you are interrested. I guess drop me a line if you want more information about my suspension

thank you for the responses.

i looked into the kore suspension systems mentioned and they are not what i am looking for.

as far as a low ride kit, that is interesting, but again, not what i am looking for.

i want to keep the stock height and will not be off road.

is there no one that has a full air suspension system on their truck now, for ride comfort only?

thank you again

I looked into these too and it just seems like a ton of money! There are other companies out there and they are still expensive kits. I looked at Air Lift and they had a nice kit for $2K but it still seemed like a lot. I drive 40-50K a year and I should do something, but I just don't know if I can justify that much cost. Good luck.

I have been looking into doing the same thing just differnt goal in mind, but anyway this is quite easy to set up, and not too expensive if you do most of it yourself. You can buy the airbags from your local big rig parts shop. About $130 each, weld mounting brackets on axel and crossmember above axle on frame for top mount. Now from here is where you may want someone who knows what they are doing make you up a 3 link or triangulated 4 link. This is way too easy of a mod, I just don't have the time to do it. But when I do get some time off it is getting done.
