Thats if you are lucky... You will probably be able to make those numbers with a 6spd, they seem to report a little better mileage than the autos. I now get about 14mpg city unloaded, but only average 16 empty on the highway at 75mph. I am at 19000 miles now, this is ok, but not what I expected from a Cummins diesel.
I'll be honest with you, these are just my numbers and remember it really depends on your driving style. Average for tailer towing once a week at 14,000lbs for a 100 miles and 27,000lbs for 15 miles with empty daily driving on that tank as well is 13. 4 MPG. When I just cruise the highway at 75-80 empty I see around 14-15 MPG. I am the first one to admit that I do have a heavy foot alot of the time so these are my numbers. I record these numbers every time I fill up because of my business. Corey
One more thing I just remembered that a few weeks a year I tow alot and have seen my MPGs go down to around 12. 2 or so. There was one time that I towed a little pickup on a flat bed trailer at 70 and got 14. 7 MPG fighting head winds. corey
fuel milage will vary considerably with truck weight/driving style. Thats one reason you get folks that can't believe when someone gets better milage than they do and that all diesels get the same milage. I don't have the 325/600 engine so I can't comment but just some observatios readin' fuel milage threads... ... ... . JIM
15. 5 average pulling 3,000 to 4,000 (empty trailers) up to 12,000 pounds (loaded with 1 or 2 tractors) about 80% of the time. I try to keep it down to 72 mph on the freeway. Sneaks up to 75 to 80 on me once in ahwile though. Lots of power. Also pulled a big stack of trailers back from Okla (about 1,000 miles).
Just hand calced last week 16. 35mpg all in city driving. I get about 19-20 on the highway but I drive around 65mph. I like to keep the RPM's below 2K.
On winter blend fuel I seem to get right around 16 regardless of the type of driving I happen to do. I normally take it somewhat easy on the fuel pedal though, but there's still plenty of times when I open it up... Most of what I normally drive is rural roads. On my last trip on the freeway and then some city driving both tanks ended up averaging out to about 16 as well. Then again I like to run at least 75 on the freeway, and if somebody wants to play I'll play assuming it's safe... I've not had the opportunity to check on summer fuel yet. Hopefully slightly better. I've only got about 6500 miles so far though and haven't hooked a trailer to it yet to help with break in...
Thanks that is what I was looking for,a wide variety of driving steyles and driving conditions. I have a friend that has a 04 600 with the 48re and he is getting about 14. 5 everyday. Thanks again Todd
