Need Saturn Help

Wifes car: '97 Saturn sc1 (two door with 1. 9L SOHC 5 speed)

Its got about 120k on it.



Are there any Saturn sites that have online forums that I can get help on it?



It has ran like new till recently, most of the time it starts right up, but randomly it will crank and crank and eventually start. Doesn't matter if it's hot or cold. And once it starts, it runs perfect down the road.



We've ran a few tanks of super and added a can of fuel system cleaner. The stealer said we needed a new fuel pump, I think I can get that changed myself, but it's inside the tank and I'll have to drop it to do the job. Just wanna make sure there isn't anything else I can try first. I'll change the fuel filter too again. We've put gas in that was so bad it fowled a plug before.

if it is the fuel pump, are you sure you can't get to it from under the back seat? there might be a access panel under the seat. some cars have that...

If you got gas bad enough to foul a plug it's likely that it fouled one of the emission system sensors also.

If it is your fuel pump, then there is no way to get to it without dropping the tank. I worked at a saturn delearship this summer and we replaced a few fuel pumps. I dont think it would any problem at all to change it yourself.

If you are not sure it is the fuel pump, take it to the local delearship and have them hook it up to the diagonistic computer. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I'll run it to the dealer and have'm plug it in. This dealer has been real good to us, so I'll trust their diagnosis. I just wanna get it fixed before the wife starts thinkin she needs a new car
