fellow members:

I put this in general diesel topics but only got one reply for the east bay. So I'm going to try some other, more frequented, sections of the form.

The California government nazi's are inching ever closer to totalitarianism. I know have to smog my truck.

Are there any TDR member recommended testing stations on the San Francisco mid-Peninsula? I live in San Carlos.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not seeing anything in your sig that should cause you any trouble other than your injectors. How fast does the smoke clear when you snap the throttle? I don't know any specific shops in that area, but i do know the restrictions for diesels have been blown way out of proportion. There really isn't anything they check for, it's just a money grab by the state. When i had my 99' I had it smogged twice (selling it and went over the 90 days), the actual test is a visual, and a smoke test. Your intake is fine, exhaust is fine, and that's really it. They might look underneath for a cat, explain to them your truck has a resonator, no cat, no egr. I found myself basically having to conduct the entire test while the tech watched. I highly recommend you read and educate yourself as much as you can before you go in there. Most of these guys are so paranoid (and rightly so) of CARB coming in and shutting them down that they are afraid to pass anything. Just have him refer to his book if there's any doubt. Make sure he's reading the DIESEL 5. 9L, not the GAS, i had that happen too:-laf. If your smoke is bad, you might want to borrow a Smarty and set it to half power.
