Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Need some advise

I cleared the codes on friday (1693, 0234, 0253) I made sure I had delectric grease on all connections. I think I have a good connection on my Blue chip pump cover. No Injectors, just Drag comp. comp grounded to the intake horn.



So I hooked on to my 5th wheeler (7k lbs) put Drag Comp on setting 3 pulled it about 200 miles No check engine light, but I ended up with Codes 1693, and 0234. (over boost code) the truck stumbles or chugs under a load pulling hills on Friday still with lots of power. Sunday I thought well I'll disconnected the pump wire and tape it up so it didn't touch anything and the truck still chugs. Unhooked the 5er and with the pump wire STILL disconnected running down the highway the truck still had a little chug to it. you can tell there's something wrong, but I only have these codes.



is my Injector pump going out? I have a new Lift pump and filter about a month ago.

Had a truck in the shop today that was doing the chugging thing like yours, but this was at Idle and wouldn't accelerate, and would die within 5 seconds of startup, didn't light any lights up, but logged a 433( high boost when other engine parameters indicate boost should be low), monitored the sensor and it showed 102. 6 inhg with the truckoff. If you have access to a scan tool or such monitor yours, and it is likely yours is stuck to.

cummins-man - As far as I know, when your VP starts to go TU, you will get a p - 0216 code. What is your fuel pressure?



I had the same problem with my EZ as well. Go to Auto Zone, or whoever will read and clear your codes for free. When my codes got set, the truck ran poor or rather like it was stock, until I got the codes cleared, then it started running like it was supposed to with the box.



PM Jrandol, he was having the same problem with his truck (FMS and pump cover) problem was the pump cover was bad.

If thats the sensor you plug the comp box into, I just had that replaced less then 3 weeks ago. Is there a possibility that is bad again? Also would that give me the stumble on the highway? I can't get the stumble to happen in town.





Fuel pressure will be checked tomorrow.

The boost sensor is next to the IAT (intake air temp) sensor. It is behind the fuel filter housing. If you have a K&N filter, the oil will destroy it. The sensor is probably bad if it is showing that high of a pressure at an idle.

I just replace the boost sensor about 3 weeks ago, so would that STILL be the problem, or would something else make the overboost code?
