I am trying to compile part numbers for pre 94 engines, but I need some CPL's and engine serial numbers. Could a few of you "classic" truck owners post or send via email a number for each of these CPL's?

CPL 804 = 89-91 without intercooler, with 18 cm turbo
CPL 1351 = 91-92 with 21cm turbo
CLP 1579 = 92. 5-93 with 18cm turbo

Other CPL's that I don't know about???

Thanks for the help, Dave

Hey Dave!

Thanks for the continued support & interest in our beloved First Generation Trucks!

Mine is a '92 W250 and it reflects the CPL 1351. I wish I could help further but this extent of my CPL knowledge.

Have "Old School" break out his Cummins Engine Suppliment Manual and research other CPL's for our trucks. I currently have him doing a bit of a "Homework Assignment" for me and it's probably all on the same page! LOL! #ad

Thanks again for the interest...

HeeHee... KEENO you're killing me.
Dave:
I've been into the Cummins books, and the three CPL's you have are correct.
Although Cummins lists a bunch more, those appear to be derivatives, and "make from" CPL's for various non and automotive applications.
You have the base CPL's for the Dodge/Cummins applications as originally certified and released.
Still digging... ... .
On another note... how is that front axle holding out on the '94? I've always liked your install, and some day on my '98... .

Hello Dave!

I have really enjoyed your site. I found it before I found out about this one. You have furnished a lot of good information to a lot of people. Keep up the good work!

Info on my 1992 D250:
Build Date----8/91
CPL#----------1351
Engine#-------44648017
Injector#-----3918965

I have a Cummins CPL book dated 11/96 and it shows that CPL1351 is California and EPA certified for 1995.

Also have 1984 Volvo D260 with inline 6 diesel made by Volkswagen.

Thank you Case500D and bigkid59. I have obtained a parts list for CPL 1351 engines using the engine number you provided. I also manage to guess some engine numbers for CPL 804, and I have obtained parts lists for them.

HELP: I have not been able to guess an engine number for CPL 1579 (92. 5-93). If someone could post or email me the engine number for this CPL, I can obtain parts and service information.

Apologies to the 1st generation folks, who already have a proper front axle. #ad
You may ignore the following.

Frank, my Dynatrac axle is still going strong on the 94. It is due for disassembly and bearing greasing soon. When I read of axle or axle u-joint problems imobilizing a 94+ Ram, I just think of my manual hubs and smile. Of course, when I have to get out in the mud to lock hubs AFTER getting stuck, I (briefly) think of the convenience of the CAD shift on the fly system I gave up. The Air Locker works very well - the only minor complaint is that steering can be difficult under certain conditions when the diff is locked. The higher pinion location of reverse cut housing has eliminated driveshaft bind at the transfer case cardan joint. Overall, a big thumbs up. #ad

Dave, I will get you the numbers for my truck if you can tell me where to look. By the way what does CPL stand for?

The numbers are on a data plate riveted to the timing gear cover on the drivers side of the engine (near the injection pump). I had to hose that area with carb cleaner to get the grime off so I could read it. The plate is self explanitory, but here's the short roadmap of where things are. Top is the top of the plate or as it is riveted on the engine, towards the firewall and right is towards the ground.

The Control Parts List (CPL) is in the center top of the plate beside the Family box.

The Engine number is in the right center of the plate below the right bottom corner of the CPL box

The Reference number is in the right center of the plate under the Engine number

The date of manufacture is in the left bottom of the plate and is in the YYYYMMDD format.

Hope this isn't clear as mud... #ad

Might have a fairly early one here for you. This is off the engine I transplanted into my '84 Ramcharger after the P. U. it was in got killed by a train.

Promise us that you'll use this information only for good and not for evil.
Hope this helps, Jones

Well I'll try to help you out. I'm pretty sure mine is an early 92'. I looked but couldn't find the date that it was made. The engine no is 44660523, is this the serial number? The reference number is 53010069. The plate said that it met the late 1991 heavy duty emissions, the truck is intercooled. Hope this helped!
