engine rattle in drive

this is straight out of the Cummins manual. Several people have mentioned doing the CP3 timing but... . it's not something that needs to be done... .

" with the Bosch injection pump, there are NO mechanical adjustments needed or necessary to accomplish fuel injection timing. All timing and fueling adjustments are electronically made by the engine mounted Engine Control Module "

I posted this because some are going through the trouble of trying to adjust the CP3 gear but, it really does nothing by doing that.

this morning when the engine was cold the knock was there but much less. then as it warmed up it started to go away. its not 100% but it is better. time will tell. i have some new nozzles to put on the injectors so we will see if that changes anything.

it just seems funny how when the input pressure is lessend to the piont where the rail pressure is lowered by about 50psi the knock disapears.

Rob reset your tone ring too stock (retard timing)

well last night fellas i took the words of wisdom from my buddy Thurmon (Red Ram) and finally set my tone ring back to stock. well needless to say the knock is finally completely gone. no knock at all at any rpm. actually by doing that it reduced the injector rattle also. to all that replied and helped me. thank you very much.
