I Have A 98 Dodge 12 , Just Put 370's And Delievery Valves In It An A #5 Plate ,,the Injectors I Got Are Part # 0432131753,, Truck Feels Like I Has More Power But Nothing Like Some People Tell Me It Should Have ... The Truck Smokes When You Take Off Kind Hard But It Clears Up After I Hit 9psi And Over ... . Egts Would Not Go Over 870-900 ,,, My ? Is Is That Norm Or Not ,,,, Stock Turbo And Stock transmission For Now

MOVED THE STAR WHEEL GOT AITTLE MORE POWER,,, WHEN I GET IN IT SHOULD THE SMOKE CLEAR UP OR NOT ????????????,,AFTER 10 OR SO PSI THE THE SMOKE STOPS AND IT JUST A HAZE COMING OUT AND EGTS ARE STILL 850-900 F ... CAN SOME BODY HELP ME TO LET ME KNOW IF THATS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE OR NOT ... HAD AN 04 DODGE AND SOLD IT FOR A 98 12V . JUST DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT A 12V YET ... . THANKS FOR AND HELP ANYONE COLD GIVE ,,,, TONY

Do you have a stock fuel plate? If so, search for "slide plate" or "sliding plate". With the stock fuel, even with 370s you're not going to push much fuel. You can slide your stock plate forward and it'll help. Might want to look into getting a #10 or #11 fuel plate too... that'll really help.

Not sure what DV's you put in but with 370's(PDR diamond B's), Cut DV's, and #100 plate right now my smoke doesen't really clear up and can hit 1600 egt's no problem. Starwheel and plate isn't even close to full forward.

Is your EGT probe in the manifold or after the turbo? If it's in the manifold thats low EGT's I'd look for fuel restrictions somewhere, IE the prefilter screen and the fuel filter for starters. Then take a look at the overflow valve.

Also make sure your AFC housing is slid full forward (toward front of truck) and the plate can be full forward too for the most power.

With the injectors and plate you have with the stock turbo I doubt it should clear up at 10 PSI. Mine leaves a constant stream of smoke even after I hit full boost, stock turbo just isn't enough air for that much fuel I'm running about 36 PSI.

Oh just remembered something check for leaks on the boost signal line that goes from the intake to the AFC housing, if it's leaking off boost your AFC won't move enough to get full rack travel.

changed the fuel filter , and will change the pre filter tomorrow ,,prode is preturbo and 191 valves and made sure the afc housing is forward and the plate to(#5plate) ,, also checked to tube from the manifold to the afc housing looks good??? or should i change that tube anyways??,,,, checked the travel of the rack when i took off the afc housing hits the bottom of the plate and then jumps back is that normal ????????? ,,,, got 4k springs to go in the pump is that my problem that i need more rpms??? i also have 60#valve springs but i'll let schied diesel to that ...

thanks for the help and info,,,

Ahh well the stock governor springs are atleast 50% of your problem. At 2200 RPM or so the stock springs with start to cut back fuel and at 2600 or so completely shut down. I could still hit 1100 or so EGT's with the stock springs though so I think something is a little fishy.

The AFC hose, it's really really hard to see holes or slits in it. The best way to test it is to take it off and submerge it in water, hold one end with your finger and blow through the other and watch for bubbles. You can do half at a time. Another thought is a ruptured diaphram inside the AFC housing, to test that you would have drive the truck without the AFC housing on it though or maybe gut the AFC housing.

Do you have a way of checking fuel pressure? It could either be your overflow valve or lift pump going, low fuel pressure gives the symptoms you mention. Also your timing could have slipped, what's it set at? 16* is about the normal for a daily driver, maybe 15. 5 if you want to play it safe. Maybe when you have sheids change you springs have them set the timing to atleast 15. 5 too, that will really boost upper RPM power. The thing you see hit the plate isn't the fuel rack it's the governer lever. And yes with what you mentioned it's adjusted correctly and it's supposed to pull back like that.

the truck or motor is stock other than what i did in the last week or so ,,370s,and pump valves and bhaf and 4inch exhaust ,,,, the truck starts fine would that still mean the lift pump maybe going out ?? changed that fliter and it took only three cranks to fill the other half of the filter bowl and fire off and run??? oh and by the way fuel filter looks like it was not changed in a long time ,it was complety black??? drove the truck and was able to hit 950f on the probe now before it defuels ,,,

The lift pump is a rare failure but it does happen. Doesn't sound like it for you. Are you sure your probe isn't bottomed out in the manifold? If you smashed the tip or even if it's just touching the probe grounds out and gives bad readings. If thats not it, possibly overflow valve I guess.
