Guys, my truck just started doing this yesterday... Under light throttle, the transmission will hunt between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd. I've read that this is a fairly common problem, but I can't seem to find out the best fixes.

It was rebuilt 20k ago, and hasn't been abused or anything. It's done some towing, but nothing to write home about. The fluid is still red and doesn't smell burnt.

Has anyone found a good fix for this? I'd like to know what parts people have changed, if it's an in-the-driveway fix, and how much they cost. Thanks!!

There is a TSB for the problem (21-009-07) but it says it's for 04-07.

I did the TSB on mine and it helped a little. Then I got the Suncoast valve body and it is better but is now doing it again but not as much.

The DTT shift enhancer is only for 04. 5 and up. They use a electronic TP system whereas the 03 and 04 have a cable actuated TP valve.

Have not seen a non-electric throttle pressure truck do it. First make sure the kickdown cable adjustment is correct, then check the front band is adjusted properly, then increase the line pressure via the regulator valve if the first two don't fix it.

Good to know! Still new to this auto stuff...

How would I go about doing the regulator valve? I've got the info on adjusting the front band, I just haven't tried it yet since this is a new problem.

Don't bother w/ the dealer, only covered under the 36k warranty.

Yeah, I had pretty much counted on that... . Even if the truck was still under the transmission warranty, the dealer would probably void it because of the aftermarket radio... . ;)

I did the front band adjustment and it helped a little, but its still there. Now it only does it under very light throttle. I'll adjust the 2-3 band here in a couple of weeks when I change the fluid... maybe that'll help a little too.

I'm just saving my $$'s to upgrade the valve body and torque converter now.

There is no 2-3 band.

For fist and all forward speeds the rear clutch applies. For second the front band applies. For third the front band releases the the front (or direct) clutch simultaneously applies. The rear band gives you reverse and manual low (first).
