EGT probe install question

Fellow 12V brothers I have a chance to exchange my #8 plate with a bigger one with TST. I can get a # 6,5 or 4. I was thinking #5 270/675 as I will eventally get injectors but I think that a #4 will be too hot for my current setup. What is you'll's opinions. The DTT mods are happening this weekend as per James Northum. I have asked a few folks about the #4 and it seems like fuels allot more than I want or can stand now.

Jim

P. S. The #8 is all the way forward now! I can't wait till Sat. Oo.

Just because.......

Flying down the road and looking over and seeing:--) the EGT guage pegged at 1450 and wondering how long has it been there is not my idea of fun.

Jim

4 plate is the ticket Bro. I have a spare and pristine cylinder head sitting on the work bench should anything go wrong though:D

If you run it in the stock position you get more low end and less EGTs on the high side I was told.

what injectors do you have now?

Don~

Don

They are stock injectors, that was my next topic about it. There has to be a limit somewhere that it's best to change them first or a plate limit on the stock ones that is why I was asking. I'm headed down there to let James do my transmission this afternoon so I'll check back Tomorrow for more feed back.

I have the #6 plate full forward and find the set up to be pretty sweet. It will be sweeter when I dump the crappy 160 stock injectors for some 215's though. EGT's are pretty managable, even with the plate full forward. They are pretty much a non issue empty, have to watch them on long grades when pulling.

Just "adjust" the fuel profile on your current plate, why spend all the $$ on another one.

I was told my plate wouldn't last when I did this to my last truck, HAH !!

It'll live, don't worry about it. :)

Thanks to you'll for your info. Don I talked to Piers and he told me to get the #4 also that I would need it to get the future H. P. that I wanted, said to just slide it back and don't crowd the stock injectors trying to chase numbers.

Jim

just put in a #6 plate love it I've got 150000 on the bone stock trans and have no problems with it at all just have to use a littel commen sence but it sure is a lot of fun to drive

What kind of EGT, hp and torque numbers are possible with the #4 plate?

I'm curious because a governor springs kit is next on my list.

First of all you will love the 3k springs, second what I did was tell Piers the I was looking for say 325-350 hp after DD2's and a turbo upgrade and he sugjested the #4 so I wouldn't be changing it out again.

Jim

HP/TQ and EGT's... . ouch
