As I understand the snow plow prep package, it includes the HD xfer case and adjustable front springs. I don't think they are any heavier, but do allow for height adjustment when the plow is attached. Since I will never attach a plow (especially now that I'm moving to Tucson), I have never even looked to see how it works. In any case the snow plow prep package is the same price as the HD xfer case as you mentioned.
