Spares/Tools..what do you carry ???

Which welder?

I want to get one of those racheting cutting pliers. Who makes a good one?

For reaming the tubing ends: Is there a nice lightweight tool? I know Klein makes a midsized pair of linemans pliers with square corners that will do to 3/4". That won't do much for the 1" and 1. 25" I have been running. I currently am using those "hooked" carpet blades in my Stanely knife. You can put a nice bevel on the inside with minimal gauging like a straight blade does. Not so good for trimming the outside or end though.

I used the neighbors pvc cutter like this one and it worked pretty good.

Have not a clue on reamers for plastic pipe.

I do a lot of PVC work so need good ones. Don't remember the brand but it's probably Chinese, still cost about $60. I've broken the $15 kind in less than a couple hours. Only do up to 1'' though, for 1-1/4 thru 2-1/2 use a cordless sawzall, any bigger a chop saw.

For reaming PVC I use a deburring tool made for steel. They have ones that do ODs, IDs and even V shaped ones that do both sides at the same time. Most any place that sells metal working tools has them for under $10. All they are is a small carbide blade that swivels in a handle.

For 3'' and larger I use an angle grinder.

A lot of folks don't deburr. If you don't the burr can wipe the glue off when you push the pipe together. It might not leak right away but years down the road it will.

I roughly figured out one time that there is over 200 miles of PVC pipe in my orchard, up to 8''. Used to buy glue in 5 gallon containers. Really don't want to deal with leaks with that much pipe.
