Hi,

Today I backed up to a concrete wall and crunched my rear factory bumper. I'll need to get a little body work done on the bed. I guess crunching my bumper was not a good thing, but it gives me a good excuse to get a real bumper.

Can someone suggest a good heavy duty steel rear bumper

like a Ranch Hand? I was told Ranch Hand no longer makes bumpers. Pictures would be great.

BTW, I have the trailer towing package and I'm located

near Dallas, TX and have a 2000 2500 QC 4x4 ETC/DEE long wide bed.

Thanks in advance,

Charles

payback

You replied to one of my posts a while back with some good advice, so here's the payback. Go to the Main Forum and look for "DodgeZilla is Alive. " I think it is on page 2. There a number of links there for bumpers.

Thanks for the info...

Fireman,

Thanks for the info. I looked at the post and found the URL for

ranchhand bumpers. I'll have to give them a call and find out

what the price is.

Thanks again,

Charles

If you're looking for an inexpensive replacement the Luverne rear bumper looks good on the Dodge (better then factory I think) and can be had for under $200 complete from http://www.bumperauto.com. They're an Omaha company so when I nailed a concrete encased mailbox while plowing I picked one up; don't know what the shipping would be. Of-course it isn't as stout as those mega bumpers.

I got mine from Brown's Welding. They are located in New Braunfelds Texas. I think the ones for the 3/4 tons are $290 plus shipping. They have the 2" receiver built in too. They don't havea website but you can call them at 1-800-625-8712

Here's a pic of mine:

I am partial to Reunels. They are on the PSD below. I want to order the rear for the Cummins. They are very heavy duty units and the lights come in very handy. They have a website at www.reunel.com

reunels

yup--reunels is it... helped put the one on at the Ct. meet. contact MACTRUCK for the particulars(his truck). many pics were taken so expect to see some up real soon!!!

Definately have to go with the Reunel. After seeing the one that was installed today at the CT TDR Meet. It is a very durable and good looking bumper.

Here's the Pic of the rear That went on MackTruck's Rig at the meet. (Check out the pics in the Regional /events and LOCAL CHAPTER areas under Connecticut meet Pics for more)

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I think I'll be going with either Brown's (New Braunfauls, TX) or Ranch Hand. The other ones are

just too expensive for what I need.

I have the Ranchhand front end, and as of late last week I have the Reunel rear. It's difficult to compare front and rear, but I have a few observations...

1. Paint on the RanchHand was better. I went a year before needing to repaint the ranchHand, I see the Reunel getting a can of paint before fall.

2. RanchHand had MUCH tighter tolerances between the bumper mounts, and the frame rails. I used an engine hoist to install the RanchHand, and it still took two people because it had to go on 100% straight or it wouldn't go on at all. I'd say that the RanchHand had about 1/32" clearance, and the Reunel probably has a 1/16".

3. I am not happy with the way that Reunel deals with my factory trailer light receptacle. Not a big deal, but for the money I would expect a better solution. The biggst problem is that it mounts so far back inside the bumper. This works just fine if you are towing a trailer that has the round plug, but if you need to use a flat plug adapter you are going to be unhappy.

I probably wouldn't have bought the RanchHand over the Reunel except that at the time the price difference was tremendous. RanchHand has since upped their prices and it would be a much more difficult decision. I LOVE the look of my Reunel rear bumper and would buy it again just because their customer service is truly awsome. As soon as I find a solution to the trailer lights thing I'll feel alot better.
