Dave Goerend - our low stall single disc with stock front cover is $650

with a billet cover it is $800

I thought GB were going to be the best Money Saving TC but I was wrong . .

Who else ??

DM

I thought you sere a Suncoast guy. But I know a guy over at DTR is making about 600 horse w/ Daves single disk.

That I Am :)

But im looking for a "Good" Cheap Single disk for the "Budgit Bomber"

I figured GB would be the one but there prices are not as cheap as I thought ,

DM

I want to tag on here becouse I'm getting close to getting trans. and waundered if there would be a reason to not use a triple, I do not exspect to go beyound 350-400-----HPs [ for now ] but I do want a exhaust brake . this is besides the cost dif.

There is a poll here, that shows DTT sells more trans than anyone by a 2:1 margin. They have many high horse/torque trucks with single clutch converters holding them. Some with 800 hp. When you build the trans ONCE it becomes less expensive ( in maintenance) each year!!

It is, as always, the " TOTAL PACKAGE". Not just a single part, that makes something good.

You can get some on ebay, for cheap, but a friend of mine has done that and just replaced it with a Goerend Brothers convertor the cheapy off of ebay was in his truck for less than a year. I think you will be hard pressed to beat $650 for a good torque convertor. Especially for somebody who will stand behind their work better than Dave does.

If I were you, get one of Dave's TCs. No $3-400 POS off of Ebay. It's proven, and a GREAT warranty. Do it right, the first time.

You asked for the BEST cheapest single disc. In that case it is Goerend hands down. I had one in my '96 and towed heavy with it for over 50,000 miles before I sold it. Person that bought it is also towing and it's working as good as the day it was installed.

Hi Chad,

our low stall single disc with stock front cover is $650

with a billet cover it is $800

out triple disc is $1200

the valve body we have is $450 the pressures can range from 60-140 or with a pr spring change it can go from 70-170 just depends on if you go with a single or triple a single would require higher pressures for the converter clutch

we can also make the valve body capable of lock up in all forward gears 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th via toggle switch

the valve body will have full time lube oil flow and will also fill the converter in park for better lube to the converter hub

with the higher pressure valve body you should also install a 1-2 shift lever made of stronger material so it does not break under the higher pressures cost of the lever is $75

single disc converter has 50,000 mile warranty

valve body has 100,000 mile warranty

triple disc converter has a lifetime warranty

freight will run prox $75-100 this is to ship the parts to you and also includes the return freight for the cores

there is no up front core charge but we do need the cores back

thanks

Dave g

His prices are right there with Suncoast ... . If Im going to pay that much then Ill get a suncoast . .

what about TCI ect... ... ...

There more to Diesel TC then DTT/ATS/GB/SC ... .

Who has the cheapest converter thats worth the money ?

Thanks

DM

I bought a Mojave Green TC with a billet cover, triple disk, and it was a low stall for $650+$100 core+shipping

So who did you go with?

Bingo

Single Disk Billet $450 rated at 1100 Ft Pounds TQ

There tripple is rated for 1600 Ft Pounds TQ

So let the GB is the best Green is junk talk start.....

Might as well just close the thread now

LOL

DM

DM- Very rarely will you see a Goerend Brothers guy talk trash about another transmission vendor(look it up). If anything I would say that it is you that bashes Dave and tells us how great your Suncoast is. Just wanted to make a point.

Good luck w/ the Mojave Green torque convertor. Got a buddy in Phoenix running one.

Now you can lock it up.

From reading their web site it looks like the stator is a milled stock stator. They don't give any info on the clutch and lockup. Let us know how the unit works for you. As we all know there is no free ride, you will get what you pay for most of the time.

No trash talk here but 2 true stories about Mojave Green and the company that makes them called Valco Transmissions in Little Rock/Palmdale, California.

My cousin is an indept. mechanic who is personal friends with the ex-manager at Valco transmissions. Valco was one of the best shops in the area. The manager left b/c of disagreements with the owner on warranty issues and other stuff. Now, my cousin and myself will not recommend people there anymore or even shop there. They are the makers of the Mojave Green TQ's

A friend in the area purchased a bullit TQ from them for his 66? Mustang. He wanted a 1800rpm stall. He got a great deal on it, installed it and the car moved at 1000 rpm. They built it for the wrong stall. He called them up and they said they would exchange it for the correct one. However, they would not pay for any of his time to remove it based on their mistake. And to boot, they said they charged him the wrong price in the beginning and if he wanted the 1800 stall he needed to pay an extra 100 bucks or they would just give him a full refund. After a lot of complaining, they finally gave him the correct 1800 stall for the price he paid in the beginning. Still no discount for having to spend the time to remove it for first time.

Before all this happened, I planned on getting one for my dad's 96 12v when his trans takes a poop, but not now. Buyer beware... . I'll visit suncoast, GB, DTT or another company next time...
