I've spent the last several days reading everything I could find on rebuilt VP44's and I'm more confused than when I started. I'm hoping you folks can clear some things up.

Initially, I was leaning towards a Blue Chip X Injection Pump... but after doing a LOT more research, it sounds as if ALL of the Factory Authorized Bosch Rebuilders have the new housings, steel sleeves, steel piston inserts and bushings, along with new Bosch Computers. Is this true??? Do ALL of the Bosch Certified Remans come with every single part that can be replaced, replaced, like Blue Chip claims that they do???

If so, wouldn't I be just as well off, getting an Industrial Injection SO pump along with some Bosch 300 HP Marine Injectors instead of paying a grand more for the Blue Chip X Pump??? Are the Blue Chip IP's worth the extra grand??? I can purchase an II pump, new injectors and an Edge Juice with Attitude for the price of one Blue Chip X pump.

I had a guy tell me that the MWFI pumps were junk. He recommended the Industrial Injection pumps. I've had several folks tell me that it wasn't worth spending the extra money on the Blue Chip pumps. I want to buy whichever pump is the best quality and will last the longest. I don't have the money to be spending on this right now, but I want to buy the best I can buy when I have replace it.

I have an '01 stock truck (not the H. O. ) 5 speed manual with and Air Dog 150, AFE Cold Air Intake, AFE High Air Ram, and a 4" Exhaust. I'd like to get a little more HP with the injectors and the IP. I plan on adding and Edge Juice with Attitude down the road.

Thank you for any input I can get!!!

I did the Blue Chip 'X' pump and have been very pleased. I also (close to the same time) did the AirDog 100 and plumbed it straight to the VP-44.

I vote for Blue Chip!

Blue Chip...

if your not happy after you call and talk to Chip I would be very surprised... ... Andy

That does not seem to answer his question. . I have problems I believe are my VP44, and after reading all the threads, I wish that there was a distilled version of symptoms and issues that can cause the 0216 code, rather than having to sift through opinions.

I have talked to all 3 of the rebuilders, and gotten 3 different lines of advice. All seemed to know what they were talking about, and none contradicted the others. .

What I was told is all 4 star bosch rebuilders must install all the new bits, to the same spec. Does anyone want to jump in and clarify the issue?

Think about what you truly want from it and how long it should last at that power level. Most of the big time rebuilders should all be on par with one another. I have talked to Chip about one of his products before and although i didn't end up buying it the issue wasn't him or his products, just didn't work out for me. When my IP went out my brother got me a II pump through his aftermarket friend. It went in with an electric lift pump, GAUGES, and RV275 injectors. Together they made a huge difference. Hope this info helps.

this is the email I had with my local oregon fuel injection bosch cert rebuilders. .

Hi Justin,

The electronic controller is replaced only when necessary. There is a date code that is used to help determine if the controller

needs to be replaced. The pump housing & advance piston are replaced along with any other internal parts that are worn. We only

use genuine Bosch replacement parts & all of our rebuilt pumps are done in house with Bosch test equipment.

Hello soon I will replace my vp on my 02 2500 6 speed. So wondering on your HO pumps when they are rebuilt are new electronic boards, is there a new steel sleeve put in, new housing, and upgrades to the newest Bosch internals etc. I could not find this info on your website. Info would be great

so now knowing this I would say that not all computers are new in the remain units. atleast not at oregon fuel injection which is a certified Bosch rebuilder

Not only that, but this also implies that they only replace the worn parts, whereas Blue Chip replaces everything (I think).

MWFI HAS been good to me!

I just replaced another one in my Sisters Truck last week also! Mine is over a year old and doing well! MWFI Was a pleasure to deal with both times and Had the best price. After my first buy from MWFI I never thought twice about buying from anyone else! They have a solid price and don't even charge you shipping and no core charge or return shipping either! ! When I picked up my first one from them I asked allot of questions and Am pretty sure they said every one of their rebuilds gets a new body and new computer. I may remember wrong but Pretty sure that was the case.

If money is plentiful I have never ever read a bad word about Blue Chip, If I had a larger budget for upgrades I would have gone with the Blue chip tuned up pump but I have so many toys each machine must remain on a budget.

Talk to MWFI and see if you can find any reason not to go with them! They will always be my first call unless they ever give me a good reason to look elsewhere! Also Notice they now sell Lift pump VP44 packages to save you more cash! 4 thumbs up For MWFI!:)

so I should have said this also even though I just found out the procedures at oregon fuel injection. my pump that I do have from them from 2007 it has just over 80k on it. so I cant complain in my current situation but knowing know. I will look else where later.

MWFI treated me very right back in '07 when I bought my pump and injectors from them. That '07 VP44 must not have been very good either, it is still percolating like a good one oughta.....

When the package was put together for shipping, the invoice said "1 set of six injectors... ... . "

When the box was opened, there was 1 injector in the box.
A phone call took care of that so fast, I swear they had a Lear Jet on standby. The injectors were on my front door step the next morning by 8 AM.

I installed a MWFI VP44 several years ago also. Good price, good core policy and runs great. Have around 40K miles on it. Chris
