So I am in the process of replacing my cracked downpipe and while doing it, I thought it might be a ood idea to do an ebrake install now that I am a 5 speed! :D

Have been looking at two options but need advice:

Option 1 - PacBrake Inline PRXB with Stans Headers 4" turbo back system. The downside is the only spot to mount the brake that I could see would be right behind the transfer case pipe.

Option 2 - Go with the regular PacBrake 14000 ebrake, and it bolts to the turbo, and use a Pacbake downpipe designed to work with the e brake. The downside, I would have to figgure out a pipe to go around the t case.

So this is where I sit!

I am very open to thoughts and opinions! ;)

What should I do?

Option 1

Robert, I don't know what turbo your running, so I guess that will determine your options, 3" or 4". I have a PDR HX35 with a BD brake hung on it, then a 3"-4" adaptor on the downpipe. I then ordered the 4" from Stans (I think) that goes around the t-case, its tight, but get it turned the right way and it'll go. I'd love to put a bigger charger on the truck (4") but the $ that it would cost to buy the turbo and 4" brake, I just can't justify.

Let me know if you need those part #'s for the 4" around the t-case, I'll dig 'em up for ya.

Hey!

I am running all stock motor/turbo. Guess that would be an H1C.

As for 3 or 4", well that is my choice! I can order a 3" from PacBrake or a 4" from Stans. All depends on what I am doing brake wise. The PRXB requires a 4" but the standard pacbrake means 3".

As for the T case P# for stans, I got it! Thanks though!

On my buddies 93 W350 ( 96 engine with stock turbo but with 16cm hsg ) we used 4" elbows and band clamps and just made the pipe around the t case as we went. He has a Cummins/Jacobs brake mounted on the turbo with the Cummins down pipe ( p/n 3804854 ) and then an adapter up to 4". Shadrach

You could pm Jelag on this site, he is a Pacbrake dealer and seems very able. He may have a solution you have not considered.

Well, I ended up with a 4" PRXB with a Stans headers 4" system. Spliced the downpipe, inserted the inline PRXB, and tested it this morning. All works great minus an exhaust leak at the turbo. Just got to find the PN for the band clamp and I should be good to go! Oo.

Sweet

Sweet, glad you got it going, why didn't you go with a turbo mount out of curiousity? I just got my turbo mount Pacbrake installed on my '03 :D

I've got a p/n for the '03 v-band clamp if you need it ~$30 from Mopar

The reason I went inline is the 4" PRXB brake will not work on a 1st gen. Due to the 3" exhaust, I could only get one of the regular old style brakes. As I wanted 60 PSI retarding force for maximum braking, I had to go with the PRXB. But back to above, not available for a 1st gen. So I made it work by ordering a third gen kit and fabbing the downpipe to make it work! Oo.

And I was told it could not be done! :-laf

As for the clamp, it is different for a 90 vs 03. I appreciate the offer though! :)

Were all of these parts bolt-on? I would love to do a brake on the turbo as well. Is the 16cm housing the same from first to second gen? Does everything bolt up nicely?

I am running BDs exhaust brake which is mounted right at the turbo. It was originally mounted to a 2nd gen down pipe. When Rip installed my 4" system he used a 2nd gen 3X4" 2nd gen down pipe. I use mine all the time and have noticed a much longer brake life 100k on the rears and almost 100k on the fronts.
